How To Catch Fish
In Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life, fishing is delightfullysimple, much easier than the famously tough fishing minigames in other farming sims.
To fishin Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life, you’ll simply need toapproach a body of waterand thencast your linewith a fishing rod in hand.
Your farmer will cast out, and you’ll see theshadow of a fishnibbling at the line.When the fish bites, you’llhear a soundand seean exclamation markon screen. When playing on acontroller, you’ll also feel avibration.
The fish willnip at the line a few timesbefore biting, andreeling in too soonwill cause the fish to swim away.
Toreel inyour catch, click thesame button you used to cast. Your farmer will reel in the catch, and then you’ll see thename, size, and weightof the fish you caught!
You only need totap the button to reel in, so save your stamina and skip the button-mashing.

Van having fishing rod upgrades in stock is reflective ofhow many fish you’ve caught so far. The more you catch, the more likely it is that Van will have a fishing rod upgrade.
Keep checking at Van’s shop when he visits to see if you’ve caught enough to upgrade!

Every progressively better fishing rod can catch all fish up to that level. For example, the Silver Fishing Rod unlocks new fish to catch, but you’ll still be able to catch everything the Fishing Rod and the Copper Fishing Rod could catch in that location.
How To Get The Blessed Fishing Rod
After you’vebought the Golden Fishing Rodfrom Van as normal, you’ll find a Bulletin Board request fromGary.
He’s asking forany rare fish, which are the ones you’ll be finding with the Golden Rod in exchange for a special fishing rod.
Giving him a fish rewards you with theBlessed Fishing Rod, the best fishing rod in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life.
This will allow you to fish up aMessage in a Bottleand aBlade of Legendfrom theOcean, as well as aGolden Axefrom the Goddess Pond, all of which aredecoration for your home.
