To achieve true self-sufficiency inStory of Seasons: A Wonderful Life, you need to be able to make seeds from your crops. Vesta is a wonderful farmer, but we can’t buy seeds from her forever. The best way to achieve this is with the Seed Maker. This facility item allows you to convert any crop into two copies of that crop’s seed. Just throw in up to 12 crops, wait a day, and tada!

In the remake, you’re able to purchase the Seed Maker from the order book for a hefty sum. Fortunately, a more affordable option is available. By befriending Daryl, you can encounter a special cutscene that rewards you with a Seed Maker for free. Here’s everything you need to know.
How To Get The Free Seed Maker Cutscene
The first and most important requirement for the cutscene is tobe friends with Daryl. We had him at about3/4th full on the friendship bar.Once at that level, try toenter his lab whenever he is there. The most reliable time is between 2 PM and 5 PM on most nights.
This friendship level will also prompt a series of cutscenes about him making an energy battery. This isnot related to the Seed Maker cutscene.
The encounter will start with you walking in on Daryl in the lab. He’s angry and ranting, claiming thatpeople in the city stole his Seed Maker ideaand are selling an inferior version of the machine. To prove his design is better, he offers toinstall it on your farm for free. That’s it!
How To Befriend Daryl Quickly
The biggest obstacle is getting Daryl to a high enough friendship level to activate the cutscene. Here aresome helpful tipsfor raising your level with him quickly.
He’s eccentric, but Daryl isn’t such a bad guy once you get to know him.
