How To Care For Your Dog
When you first move onto your farm,two dogswill approach you and Takakura as the cutscene begins to wrap up. Takakura’s not a fan of dogs, but he begrudgingly lets youkeep one of the two dogs.
There’s no real difference between the two dogs, only aesthetic things. Both behave in the same ways, and require the same care.
The dog you don’t choose, Takakura will bring it to the city and find it a new home - no worries about the un-chosen dog’s fate!
You can thenname your doganything you’d like, and it will then have adoghousedirectly beside your house on your farm. It has afood bowlas well, so don’t forget to feed itmushrooms and wild plantsto keep it well-fed.
You don’thaveto feed the dog, though - nothing bad happens if you don’t put food in its bowl, and it will still react to you and your trainings the same.
Additionally, you can opt totrain your dog, teaching it four different tricks. Your dog willprogressively improveon their skills the more you work on said skill together.
Dogs who are both well-trained and of a high friendship with you’re able to help youherd your livestock around on the farm.You can alsocall the dogwherever you are in town, and it will show up faithfully at your side.
How Do You Get A Cat?
Your cat will come fromRomanainYear Two. Romana will come to your farm on this day telling you she’s already got too many cats to keep this one, andgives it to you.
Like the dog, you’ll be allowed toname the cat, and it will then live on your farm.The pet food bowl by the dog housefeeds both your dogandcat now, so expect tofill it more often.
Also like the dog,nothing happens if you don’t feed the cat.
Cat Friendship
Unlike your dog, you’re not able to train your cat, making theinteractions with your catverylimited.
You cancarry your cat around townand spend some timeintroducing it to the townsfolk, andfeeding itincreases your cat friendship.
Outside of this, your cat isn’t up to much - it will nap and interact with animals around the farm, like cats do. You caninteract with it to raise your friendship level.

How Do You Get A Horse?
Takakura gives you your horseafter you’d have time to adjust to your new life a bit, inSummer of Year One. He ought to call you to the Barn in the late-morning to give it to you.
There, he’ll ask you to guesswhich color horsehe’s gotten for you.You get the color you choosefrom the list, so be sure to pick something you like.
Youcannot change the color of your horselater on - this is the only horse you get.

After this, you’ll be prompted toplace a feeding trough in the Barnwith your Cows and Sheep.
The horsetakes up a barn slot, and, when not being used for transport, will act much like your livestock - it will go inside and outside with the rest of the barn animals when called. It needs to be givenFodderjust like the rest of the livestock, as well.

How Do I Ride My Horse?
Unlike the rest of the livestock, though, the horse can betaken off the farmandridden as transportationto help your farmer move around the Valley a bit faster. It canjump any fence your farmer can jump, meaning you may ride through town with ease.
You canwalk up to your horse from the side, and you’ll notice the"Talk" buttonwill now say,“Ride"instead. The angle can be touchy, but as long as you’re standing at your horse’s side, you’ll get it.
You can alsocall your horse from anywhere, using the same button you use to call your dog.
You’ll see one of the options in this sub-menu is"Call Horse"once you have a horse living on your farm. Selecting it will cause the screen to fade, and you’ll be on horseback when the game loads back in.
Why Can’t I Get On My Horse?
If youcan’t ride your horsein Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life, it’s entirely likely thatyour horse is asleep.
To get around this, use the shortcut tocall your horse- this wakes it from its slumber, and you’ll be riding off in an instant.
