Compared to its predecessor,Tears of the Kingdom’sworld feels far more full of life and vibrant. This is thanks to the settlements feeling more interconnected, an abundance of NPCs, and how detailed the quests are.

Hateno Village is home to many of these quests, mostly centering around the feud between Mayor Reede, who values traditionalist ways, and Cece, the local fashionista who wants to bring Hateno into the modern era. Both have secrets, though, and this quest has you working out the former’s plans for the future.
How To Start Reede’s Secret
To begin Reede’s Secret, you’ll need to findClavia, who is Mayor Reede’s wife. you’re able to usually find herin her house, which is the house on a hill with a small wall and a shed opposite the Hateno Village shrine.
If she’s not in the house, she might be inLink’s old house on the edge of town, cleaning.
Clavia will tell you thatshe wants to know what Reede gets up to in his shed at nightand asks you tofind a way inside the shed during middayto find out.
How To Complete Reede’s Secret
Trying to enter Reede’s shed, which is next to the house, will result in failure -the door is locked,and there’s a warning to keep out. The solution, then, is to enter the shed from underneath using Ascend.
If you lookbehind the shed and to the left, you’ll spy awell(see the picture above for reference). Enter this well (consider snapping a photo of it with the Camera if you have the compendium at this point!).
Thecave system beneath Hatenois long and has two entrances. It’s full of twisting turns, enemies, and lots of loot to grab, includingmined stones, rare critters, and plants.
From the well near Reede’s shed, take the following directions:
If it is not midday, eitherwait until itis ormake a campfireby setting fire to some Wood placed on the ground.
Fire Fruitarrows would work, but Bomb Fruit arrows would also do in a pinch - just be sure to stand far away.
With a campfire, you canskip time until noon.
Use Ascendto reach the inside of Reede’s shed and thenread Reede’s Diary. If you get the timing wrong and Reede catches you, you’ll be kicked outside unceremoniously.
Reading the Diary gives you the information you need - leave the shed the normal way andreturn to Clavia, who will now be given a quest marker on your minimap. Talk to her, and you’ll complete the quest, netting youtenHylian Tomatoes.
