Nightmare Dungeons are an endgame activity inDiablo 4, and one that you will be doing often as you progress your character. Nightmare Dungeons are powered-up versions of normal Dungeons that have randomized affixes, making each run of the dungeon slightly different.

However, before you may unlock a Nightmare Dungeon, you need the corresponding Nightmare Sigil, which can be difficult to obtain. Below, we’ll take a look at every way to get Nightmare Sigils, and how to craft higher-Tier Sigils.
How To Get Nightmare Sigils
There are several different ways to get Nightmare Sigils. Nightmare Sigils drop fromTree of Whispers reward caches, enemies inside Nightmare Dungeons, and fromWorld Bosses.
When you first enter World Tier 3 and unlock Nightmare Dungeons,the best way to get Nightmare Sigils is to clear Tree of Whispers objectivesand obtain them from the reward cache you get at the end.
As you complete more and more Nightmare Dungeons, you’ll build up a lot of Nightmare Sigils, although not necessarily for Dungeons or Tiers you want to run. This is whereNightmare Sigil Craftingand salvaging comes into play.
Nightmare Sigil Crafting
As soon as you enter World Tier 3, you can begin crafting your own Nightmare Sigils usingSigil Powderand some gold. Nightmare Sigil crafting is done through theOccultist NPCin major towns.
At the Occultist, you may craftSacredandAncestral Nightmare Sigils, which provide Sigils forTier 1-20andTier 21-100Dungeons, respectively. You will needprogressively more Sigil Powderand gold the higher Tier Sigil you are crafting, as seen in the table below.

How To Get Sigil Powder
Sigil Powder is earned primarily throughsalvaging unwanted Nightmare Sigils, which can be done at theOccultist. Thehigher the Tierof the Nightmare Sigil you are salvaging, themore Sigil Powderyou will get in return. In the same vein, salvaging Ancestral Nightmare Sigils will reward more Powder than Common and Sacred Nightmare Sigils.
Additionally, Sigil Powder can be obtained fromrandom eventsin the open world andLegion Events, meaning you’ll slowly build up a supply of Sigil Powder as you complete objectives in the open world.
