In an open-world game likeTears of the Kingdom, acquiring and using new movement abilities is often key not only to completing puzzles but making travel easier. Perhaps the most curious of movement techniques in this game is Ascend, which allows Link to travel through ceilings and pop out the other end.

As with all the other abilities in the game, you’ll have to learn how to use Ascend through a handy shrine quest, replete with tutorializing puzzles that help you understand your new power. Gutanbac Shrine is this shrine for Ascend and comes with some neat obstacles.
How To Complete Gutanbac Shrine: The Ability To Rise
After dealing with the frosty peaks surrounding the shrine, you’ll be pleased to know thatthe temperature inside is bearable.
After acquiring the Ascend ability from Rauru, head forward to your first obstacle, which is just an overhang. Select theAscendability and use it todive through the overhangand come up at the other end.
There aretwo ledgesto your right. One of them juts out of the wall and is short, and the other reaches all the way to the top. Use Ascend to get on top of thelefthand platform firstto get this shrine’s chest. Open it, and then drop back down to the ground. Use Ascend to climb through therighthand protrusion to continue.
There will be aSoldier Construct Iat the top of the ledge -time will stop as you decide whether or not to pop outof the groundor not, so turn your camera to face the enemy. Pop out and destroy the construct.
Enter the new, large room and turn to the right. You’ll spottwo wooden cratesin an alcove in the wall -destroy them and thenuse Ascend in the gap left behind. You’ll raise up to a ledge that has a chest on top. Grab the item inside and then drop down to the ground again.
Now, investigate thetwo wires holding the bridgeto the floor. Use abladed weapon to cut themand the bridge will fall - you can nowuse Ascend to pop up on top of the lowered bridgeand press on into the rest of the shrine.
In the final section of the shrine, there aretwo platformssticking out of the wall. The top platform is too high to use with Ascend, and the lower platform moves from side to side.
You’ll have to time your Ascend ability to firstreach the lower platform, and then a second Ascendas the platform crosses underneath the top platform. With that done, you’ll be at the shrine’s exit and able to pick up a Blessing of Light.
After leaving the shrine, be sure to look around and find the very large tree trunk nearby. you’re able to use Ascend to reach it. Inside, you’ll find theArchaic Warm Greaves, which protect you against the cold.
If you then use Ascend while inside the tree trunk, you’ll reach the top. Here, complete the stone circle with the nearby rock, and you’ll find aKorok.
