InDiablo 4, Legendary equipment eventually becomes relatively easy to come by. At higher levels, you’ll probably be dropping at least one Legendary per Nightmare Dungeon, if not more. However, Unique equipment sits at a tier above Legendaries, with powerful effects that can’t be transferred to other equipment like Legendary Aspects can.

Out of all the Unique pieces of equipment, there are seven that stand even further above the rest, with extremely low drop rates but equally as strong effects. The Doombringer sword is one of these ultra-rare Uber Uniques, with a great ability that can fit into a variety of builds. Below, we’ll take an in-depth look at the Doombringer’s effect, and the best ways to get it.

Updated July 04, 2025: The Season of Blood has added a new way to obtain Uber Uniques like the Doombringer in the Echo of Duriel boss fight. We’ve updated this guide with everything you need to know.

How To Get Doombringer

Doombringer isone of seven extremely rare Unique pieces of equipmentin Diablo 4. These Uber Unique items areeven rarer than normal Uniques, and have avery low drop rate.

Still, if you aren’t deterred by the massive RNG you must overcome, here’s how to get Doombringer.

Duriel the Maggot King uber boss

First, you’ll need tobe at least level 85. These Uber Uniquesdon’t drop below level 85, so that is your first requirement. Beyond that, Doombringer hasno specific drop requirements. It candrop anywhere normal Uniques can, which means pretty muchany content in the gamehas a chance to drop one.

Fighting bosses during the Blood Harvest at high levels is also a good method for farming Uniques.

Outside of the Duriel boss fight, which we’ll look at below, your best bet for getting Doombringer is tofarm high-tier Nightmare Dungeons. Level 85 enemies appear inTiers 31 and above, so be sure to use Nightmare Sigils of at least this Tier.Helltide eventsandWorld Bossesare also good choices, but are a bit more limited than Nightmare Dungeons due to their time-based nature.

Echo Of Duriel

Added in Season 2, there is now a much better way to target-farm the Doombringer by killing theDuriel Uber boss. You’ll still need to do quite a bit of grinding and hope that luck is on your side, but yourchances to get the Doombringer are much higher using this method.

To summon Duriel, you’ll need two materials.Mucus-Slick Eggs drop from the Echo of Varshanin World Tier 4, andShards of Agony drop from Grigoire. After you get two of each of these, head to theGaping Crevasse Dungeon to the southeast of Gea Kul.

Here, you’re able to submit your materials to the Pestilent Altar to summon Duriel. This boss islevel 100, so you’ll want to bearound level 90 or above. You can be a bit lower level if your gear is exceptionally strong.

Duriel has a high chance of dropping Uniques upon defeat. Still, expect to kill him quite a few times before you get the Doombringer.
