Regardless of how you start the quest, you will have toinvestigate the destroyed caravan.
Investigating The Caravan
The caravan is in a rough state. It’s been turned on its side, its cargo spilled on the ground, and with bloodstains nearby. Geralt will have toinvestigate three cluesto piece together what happened here.
Footprints
Like many other witcher contracts, the footsteps next to the cartgives Geralt an indication of the victims' survival or lack thereof.
Barrel
Thebroken barrel by the footstepscontains a potent alcohol that emits a potent scent that Geralt can follow.
Claw Marks
The claw markson a rock east of the caravanclue Geralt into the kind of monster he is dealing with.
After investigating all three clues, Geralt willpick up the scent of Kaedweni alcohol, leading him to a nearby cave. There, he will findtwo survivorsfrom the monster’s attack.
The pairrecount their encounterwith Geralt before choosing toshelter in the cave until the monster is slain. Thanks to their information,Geralt deduces that he is fighting a royal wyvern, which should be roosting nearby.
Reaching The Wyvern Nests
The quest willbring you out of the cave and up the hill, where Geralt will findtwo wyverns and their nests. The monsters will immediately defend their territory, forcing you to fight them.
The wyverns fight similarly to flying hybrids, frequently taking to the skiesin order toplunge down in diving attacks. In addition to this annoying habit, they canpoison Geralt by spitting at himor byattacking him with their tail.
If you rely on alchemy, note that wyverns arevulnerable to Draconid Oiland can have theirpoison neutralized by Golden Oriole.verify not toconsume too many potions and bombsearly in the fight. This isjust the first half.
Flying wyverns can be grounded byshooting them with a crossboworstriking them with a well-timed Aard. When forced to the ground, wyverns willcrash and be stunned for several seconds, letting you get some damage in.
Given that you arefighting two wyverns at once, you should be prepared towatch both monsters during the fightto avoid being taken by surprise.
After both monsters have been slain, make sure todrop a bomb into each nestto destroy their brood before they hatch and threaten the nearby villages. Once the deed is done,a cutscene will play, where the real monster appears.
How To Kill The Royal Wyvern
Considering that you just killed two of its associates and their children, the royal wyvern is not in a diplomatic mood. Itimmediately goes on the offensive.Treat it as atougher and deadlier wyvern.
It relies onthe same poisonous attacksand willdive-bomb Geraltthroughout the fight. Its other, more mundane offensive tools such as itsclaws and teethare also far deadlier than their ordinary counterparts.
If you have to prioritize which attacks to avoid, focus on dodging its poison at all costs. It will sap your heath, making any recovery much more difficult.
Thanks to its plethora of deadly implements, you shouldbe patient and avoid taking risks.Your opportunity to deal damage will come whenit flies.Make sure toshoot it out of the skyto earn a lengthy window to deal damage.
Once it is dead, loot it for its trophyand return to Benek for your reward. The quest giver will give you your well-earned reward, ending the quest.
