Spiral Arrow
⬇️↘️➡️ + K
The Spiral Arrow is one of Cammy’s most iconic moves for a reason. It is fast, half of her normals cancel into it, and you may follow certain version of it with a Cannon Spike. One of the more interesting aspects of Street Fighter 6’s iteration of this move is thatthe heavy version can be charged. The charged version hits multiple times and will blow through every armored move (which of course includes Drive Impacts).
However, you do not want to use this move recklessly. The Spiral Arrow gets moreunsafeon block the closer your opponent is to you when you do it.If you use a Spiral Arrow and just barely reach your opponent with the tip of your toes, you will be prettysafe. However,if you use this move in close range, and it is blocked, you will be severely punished.
Cannon Spike
➡️⬇️↘️ + K
The Cannon Spike is Cammy’sreversal(think of it as her version of the Shoryuken). It is a powerfulanti-airspecial that is extremely good at smacking enemies approaching from the sky. It also has the added bonus of being able to be tacked on to the end of her Spiral Arrow. If your enemy is jumping at you frequently, it is probably a pretty good idea to look to land this special.Like the Spiral Arrow, Cammy can also charge this special to tack on more hits as well.
The version of the Cannon Spike you use is more important here than with something like the Shoryuken. You will whiff badly if you attempt to use the OD version against someone who is right above you. When an opponent is close, the LK version is a better call.
If you are ever being pressured relentlessly, the Cannon Spike can work as an emergency get-off-me button. Especially if you use the OD version. The OD Cannon Spike is completely invincible on startup. However, if your opponent blocks this attack, you will be in for a world of hurt. So do this very sparingly.
Spin Knuckle
⬇️↙️⬅️
This is Cammy’s best tools for getting around fireballs. The light version is the exception to this rule, as it has no invincible properties, but it is the version that can combo. So, when getting around fireballs, stick to the medium and heavy versions.
The OD version is as fast as the light, while having the range and projectile invincibility of the heavy. It also has a particularly nasty feature: if you are close to your opponent you will pass through them and hit them from the other side. This is pretty stinking fast, too.
The Spin Knuckle is easily stopped by basically any normal. So, if you get too predictable with this one, you will get called out by better players.
Cannon Strike
⬇️↙️⬅️ + K (in the air)
The Cannon Strike is a dive kick-style attack. With this move Cammy will change her jump arc, plunging down with a kick once it is input. The light version has the most vertical angle, the heavy version is the most horizontal version, and the medium is somewhere in between. This is another move that is better if you space it correctly. If you land it on their head, it will leave you in a worse position than if you land it on their toes. In fact, this attack is plus on block if you land it perfectly.
One of the best elements of the Cannon Strike is that you can jump at your opponent, and then, as they perform a move that would normally knock you out of the air, you can cut your jump short, and punish their whiff. This is a great way to get around fireballs as well. You can use the Cannon Strike to hop over the fireball, gain ground, but stay far enough away from a locked and loaded Shoryuken.
Hooligan Combination
⬇️↘️➡️ + P
The Hooligan Combination does a number of things and can be an extremely effective way at keeping your foe on theri toes. Most of the attacks you’re able to perform off of the Hoolgan Combination are relativelysafe. The Razor’s Edge Slicer (do nothing during the Hooligan Combination) is actually plus on block. However, it is the attack with the most startup, so if you go to it too often your opponent may hit you with a super. The Reverse Edge (⬇️K), on the other hand, is the least safe. However, it does have a fantastic hit box, and will provide the most reward if it lands (as you can combo after it).
You can also perform the Cannon Strike (⬇️K) out of the Hooligan Combination. Which won’t convert into much damage, but is a reliablysafeoption. TheFatal Leg Twister (LP + LK) is a throw,so if your opponent is looking to just block whatever you follow up with, this is a brilliant option. However, it doesn’t work against crouching opponents, so you will want to be careful.Lastly, the Silent Step (P) will cancel the Hooligan Combination altogether. ensure to use the Silent Step frequently enough to keep them guessing. None of these follow-ups are overwhelmingly powerful on their own, what makes the Hooligan Combination dangerous is that you never know which followup is coming, and each option will defeat a different defensive tactic.
It is worth mentioning thatthe OD Hooligan Throw is blindingly quick. It is an incredible move, and will be highly effective at punishing whiffed attacks, even from a large distance away. The Hooligan Combination should never be your primary tool. It is there to add a little chaos, and to keep your opponent guessing. However,do make use of the OD version, as it is an incredibly potent tool.
J. HP, HP >Heavy Canon Spike(➡️⬇️↘️ + HK)
This is far from being optimal, but if you are just starting out, this is a fairly damaging, and easy to perform, combo. This is a simple combo to land after an opponent whiffs a big attack, or if you jump over a fireball early enough. As far as beginner combos are concerned, this is one that will help see you through those early matches. If you have the meter, you can also link into her Killer Bee Spin (⬇️↙️⬅️⬇️↙️⬅️ + K) super.
Cross-up Jumping LK, Cr. LK, Cr. LP, MediumSpiral Arrow (⬇️↘️➡️ + LK)
This is your go-to combo for capitalizing off of a cross-up.Of course, you can cut off the cross-up part and just land it off of a stray light. If you can consistently hit this combo, you will be at a huge advantage, as lights are your best normals when in an up-close scramble.
Cr.HP, Cr. MP,OD Spiral Arrow(⬇️↘️➡️ + KK), Heavy Canon Spike (➡️⬇️↘️ + K)
This combo will take about a third of your opponent’s health bar for two bars of Drive Gauge. You can land this attack from a jumping heavy punch. It is also a fantastic punish combo. If you really want to tack on some damage, you can also swap out that final Heavy Canon Spike to land Cammy’s Killer Bee Spin (⬇️↙️⬅️⬇️↙️⬅️ + K)
Cammy General Game Plan
Cammy is a character who rewards clean play. She has excellent normals, which make her exceedingly good at poking and prodding her foes in the mid-range.While her standing medium kick doesn’t combo into itself—making it harder to confirm—it issafe, rangey, and shockingly fast.Use this attack to prod at your opponents.
Her crouching heavy punch is a very competentanti-air. Itdoesn’tcancel into specials, but itdoescombo into Cammy’s medium punch, which does cancel into specials. The crouching heavy punch isalsoplus on block! Finally, her Delayed Ripper (➡️ + HK) is another fantastic normal forfootsies, especially since it has a very slightshimmybuilt into it.
Whenever you land the crouching heavy punch, combo into the crouching medium punch. From there you can combo into any of her special attacks.
While this poking and prodding (also known asfootsies) won’t lead to substantial damage, it will start to frustrate your foes. Inevitably, that frustration will lead to them making a mistake. Which is when you capitalize with a big combo. Once you deal your damage, return to neutral, and repeat your footsies-centric strategy.
There are characters who are more capable of fighting Cammy in the mid-range. Marisa, as an example, has a whole array of armored moves which can absorb your attack. So, you are going to want to alter your strategy when fighting her. Use more grabs, and utilize your charged heavy Spiral Arrow (⬇️↘️➡️ + HK).
When fighting an opponent who has a projectile, you can push forward, hopping over their fireballs, using yourCannon Strike(⬇️↙️⬅️+ K in the air) to avoid jumping into ananti-airspecial.If you have a feel for the timing you can also Spin Knuckle (⬇️↘️➡️ + HP) through their attack, and get up close and personal.
While we wouldn’t recommend overusing it, alsomake sure to make good use of her Hooligan Combination (⬇️↘️➡️ + P). Especially the OD versionwhich is too fast to be able to react to consistently. From the Reverse Edge (⬇️K) follow-up you can land Cammy’s crouching medium punch, which can cancel into any of those specials (and lead to big damage).
If your opponent tries jumping at you, knock them out of the air with your light Canon Spike (➡️⬇️↘️ + LK), or, if you are a little later reacting, use her crouching heavy punch. When pressuring your opponent, you are going to have to be pretty sharp with youranti-airs, as they are going to be looking for a way out of the pressure.
A cleanly played Cammy is always a difficult foe to encounter. Just verify to play your game, and frustrate your opponents with those excellent normals, while capitalizing on their mistakes.
