Tips And Tricks For Illari
Ilari’s Role As A Support
Right off the bat, it’s important to understand the role you’re trying to play when choosing Illari. As a support, you’ll want toprioritize keeping your allies alive. Your only ways of doing this are via yourSolar Rifle’s alternate fireand yourHealing Pylon.
In general, you’ll want tostay behind the rest of your team, but not as far back asa support like Ana might be. With Illari’slack of shields or armor on her health pool, you don’t want to be caught in the middle of a skirmish, though.
Illari’sOutburstmovement ability will alsogive her a little more survivability. In the event that an enemy player tries to pick you off from the backline, you canuse Outburst to put some distance between you and your enemyso you have a better opportunity to react.

Use Illari’s Solar Rifle Purposefully
It will be incredibly important tomanage the solar reserves of Illari’s Solar Rifle, both for dealing damage and healing. You’ll need to aim for an equal balance between the two to be the most useful to your team.
Afully charged shot of the rifle’s primary fire does significantly more damage, so you’ll want to be more precise with your attacks. If you’veplayed Widowmaker before, you’ll have an idea to the firing pattern you want to have.Time your shots carefully, and always try to have a full gauge of energy before firing.
Solar Rifle’s primary fire canheadshot, too, which has a1.5 times damage multiplier. Keep practicing with your aim!
As forSolar Rifle’s alternate fire, you also want to keep an eye on the energy gauge. It is amedium-range beam of healing, and the majority of Illari’s healing will come from this, so alwaysstay relatively close to your teammates.
When healing your allies with Illari’s Solar Rifle, make sure toavoid fully draining the energy gauge. If you do, not only will therecharge time be increased, but youwon’t be able to heal again until its fully recharged.
Throw Healing Pylon In Various Locations
Healing Pylonis the other source of healing in Illari’s kit. When you throw it out, it willattach to various surfaces and even terrain-like objectssuch as Mei’s Ice Wall. You can use this to your advantage by throwing Healing Pylon in astrategic location that is out of the line of sight of enemy players.
The pylon has a set amount of total health andwill go on a long cooldown if destroyed.
As long asit isn’t being attacked, you’re able to throw out a new Healing Pylon. Whenyour team moves or positions differently, you will want to keep throwing out new Healing Pylons in more optimal locations.
Illari’s Ult Can Be Interrupted
Keep in mind that Illari’sCaptive Sunultimate is achanneled ability, which means thatit can be interrupted. Once activated, you are prone to being stunned or hackedbefore you can fire off the energy ball from your rifle.
Considering howCaptive Sun can already launch you into the air, you might want to activate Illari’s ultimate firstfrom behind cover or around a corner. Once you are in the sky, you can thenget a bird’s eye view of the battlefield.
Make sure tofire off your ultimate where there are several enemies grouped up.
You also don’t want to waste thehuge damage potential of Illari’s ultimate. With Illari, you’re able to create somegreat dual Hero combinationsto make use of how Captive Sun marks an enemy.Dealing enough damage to a marked enemywill result in a huge explosion around them.
