Today we’re here to talk aboutStreet Fighter 6’s Juri. Is she a villain? Is she an anti-hero? They Jury is still out on that one. What wecansay with absolute certainty, however, is that she has a sadistic streak that runs a mile long, and her gameplay suits that level of sadism like a leather glove.

Juri is a speedy character who seems service built to dance on the outside, poking and prodding at you with rangy kicks, brazenly powering up her Fuha just outside of your reach, only to then swarm you with long chains of combos and safe attacks. It is almost poetic how built to frustrate Juri is. Luckily for you—and unluckily for your opponent—we will show you how to tap into your inner Juri and play her like the menace she so obviously is.

Fuhajin

⬇️↙️⬅️ + K

This move allows Juri to build Fuha meter. However, unlike other abilities (such as Jaimie’s drink command), the Fuhajin is a moderately versatile tool which can be used in a number of ways. Firstly,it is a quick attack that will pop your opponent up into the air, certain strengths will allow for a follow-up.Secondly, it will absorb fireballs (though we would only recommend using this for the slower-moving ones).

The light version is going to be your go-to more often than not, as it is safe on block (and is easier to combo into at close range), but your medium version moves you forward more, so use that if you are at a little more of a distance. The OD version is useful for being easy to combo into and popping the opponent up into the air, leading into an easy combo. While the heavy version pops foes up as much as the OD version, it is slow and unsafe, so you generally want to reserve that for specific combos.

If you finish a combo with a MK or HK Fuhajin you will also have time to throw in an LK Fuhajin right after and get two charges.

One more thing to keep in mind is that the Fuhajin will leave your opponent on their butt andveryclose. Soit may not be a particularly damaging ending to your combo, but it does give you very nice oki.

Of course, Fuha stocks can be used to power up your other attacks, so this move will be a prominent part of your game plan. Often you are going to be making a conscious decision as to whether you are going to end a combo for damage, or end it with a Fuhajin to get another Fuha stock. You should aim to have three stocks at all times.

Saihasho

This is Juri’s fireball. The regular version that comes out without a Fuha stock is pretty underwhelming. If you space it perfectly it can still be safe, but given its limited range, it has dubious utility outside of a few light combos. The OD version, on the other hand, will travel the distance of the screen at a snail’s pace, making it easy to follow behind, and creating an excellent amount of pressure (as well as unique combo opportunities).

The Fuha-enhanced version of this projectile is a core part of her gameplay, as it will make her other Fufa-utilizing attacks safe, and creates a lot of pressure during footsies.Whenever you are around half the screen away from your opponent, you will probably want to throw one of these out there.

Many players, even at the intermediate level, can start to get a little jumpy once you start using her Saihasho, so make sure to have your Cr. HP ready to knock them out of the air.

Ankensatsu

This is a giant wheel kick that hops over lows but is extremely unsafe. Which is to say, that unless you have an incredible read on your opponent’s incoming sweep, you don’t want to just throw it out. This attack is almost exclusively used as combo filler.

However, it is premium combo filler, as the ability to cancel either theSaihasho(⬇️↘️➡️ + LK) or theGo Ohatsu(⬇️↘️➡️ + HK) into it (if you have the Fuha stocks necessary), means that both of those moves can lead into big combos.

The Ankensatsu leads directly into all three of your super arts.

Go Ohatsu

This is Juri’s lunging kick special. It is fast, leads into good damage, and has excellent range. The only issue is that the Go Ohatsu isveryunsafe on block. Thankfully, you can mitigate this issue if you have Fuha stocks saved up. Just cancel it into aSaihasho(⬇️↘️➡️ + LK) to make it safe on block.

You will want to use this attack in footsies frequently, as it is excellent for whiff punishing. Just make sure you have two Fuha stocks to back out of it safely in case it is blocked. If you land the Go Ohatsu, and you have the stock, follow it with an Ankensatsu(⬇️↘️➡️ + MK) and you may land a hefty combo afterward.

Tensenrin

➡️⬇️↘️ + P

This is Juri’s cartwheel kick. Not only is it an excellent anti-air, but the OD version is an invincible reversal (much like Ryu’s Shoryuken). The medium and heavy versions of this attack are excellent anti-airs. However, all versions of this attack will struggle to anti-air people who are directly above you. So, be aware, there is a sweet spot there that your opponent will likely try to take advantage of on occasion.

Shiku-sen

The Shiku-sen is a dive kick. It has a pretty horizontal approach, so you don’t generally want to use it up close (like you would with Cammy’s Cannon Strike). However,it is a good tool for punishing fireball attacks. This is especially true for the OD version. Generally speaking, you are going to want to primarily use the OD version of this attack. The non-OD versions require a very strong read, while the OD can be used more to react to a fireball.

Like Cammy’s Canon Strike, this attack is more safe the lower it hits, but considering how horizontal this attack is, that isn’t necessarily something you will be able to control too much.

If you do land the Shiku-sen make sure to hit theShiren-Sen (K) follow-up. It will pop your opponent up into the air, and you will even be able to land a Tensenrin (➡️⬇️↘️ + P)afterward.

Cr. MK,Medium Fuhajin(⬇️↙️⬅️ + MK),Light Fuhajin(⬇️↙️⬅️ + LK)

This is a simple combo for gathering a quick two stocks of Fuha. You can land this off her cross-up MK, but you can also throw out in neutral, and you will be relatively safe if you space it correctly. Just make sure to not add theLight Fuhajin(⬇️↙️⬅️ + LK) if theMedium Fuhajinis blocked. Or, if you are in close, replace theMedium Fuhajinwith aLight Fuhajinand you will be completely safe on block.

Cr. MK,OD Fuhajin(⬇️↙️⬅️ + KK),Heavy Tensenrin(➡️⬇️↘️ + HP)

This is the same combo as the one which gives you two Fuha stocks, but you add theOD Fuhajin(⬇️↙️⬅️ + KK) instead, and then you’re able to land aHeavy Tensenrin(➡️⬇️↘️ + HP). If you have any super bar, you can also swap out the Tensenrin for any of your supers.

HP,Heavy Fuhajin(⬇️↙️⬅️ + HK),Heavy Tensenrin(➡️⬇️↘️ + HP)

This will be your go-to punish combo for Juri. If someone whiffs a big attack, you can perform this combo without spending a single bar of Driver Meter. If you have any super bar, you can also swap out the Tensenrin for any of your supers.

[THIS COMBO REQUIRES A FUHA STOCK]

HP,Ankensatsu(⬇️↘️➡️ + MK), Cr. MP,Medium Fuhajin(⬇️↙️⬅️ + MK),Light Fuhajin(⬇️↙️⬅️ + LK)

This is another route you may go for a punish combo, but it will require a Fuha stock. Without the Fuha stock, theAnkensatsu(⬇️↘️➡️ + MK) will not combo.

[FENG SHUI ENGINE COMBO]

MK, MP, Cr. HP, j.MP, j.MK,Shiku-Sen(⬇️↙️⬅️ + K) >Shiren-Sen(K)

The Feng Shui Engine Super Art is an incredibly versatile install-type super whichallows you to chain all of Juri’s normals together as long as you don’t repeat a normal, or add a normal weaker than the previous one(so you can combo from a medium kick into a medium punch, or into a heavy attack, but you can’t combo from a medium kick to a light attack). While this allows for a number of different options, more than we could ever cover in a simple beginner’s guide, but we figured we would provide one solid combo.

The above combo will pop your opponent into the air, allowing you to follow them.Just make sure you are holding up and toward as you hit the Cr.HP.This combo will take about thirty percent of your opponent’s health bar while simultaneously not costing any Drive Meter. It isprettyspicy.

Juri Game Plan

Spacing. Spacing. Spacing! That is the key to a successfully played Juri.you’re able to cancel her crouching MK into herSaihasho (⬇️↘️➡️ + LK), but if you do it when you are close, and you don’t have a Fuha stock, you will be easily punished. However, if you do this from the maximum range of your MK, you will be completely safe. Similarly, she has a number of excellent normals, like her HP, that are safe if you aren’t within jab range.

Some of Juri’s most important normal attacks will beher Cr. MK, which is safe low attack and is great for comboing into your specials. Her standing HK, which will be a source of consistent Punish Counters (which will combo directly into her supers for massive, unscaled damage). Her standing MK, which is a fantastic, long-range poke, and cancels into specials. And, finally, herKyosesho (➡️ + MP), which is a very short-range elbow that is safe on block and can act as a frame trap into her standing light kick.

While these normals are safe on block, they aren’t plus on block (except for the Kyosesho, that is).The distinction here is important. So, after one of these attacks are blocked, you will generally want to leave a tiny space to potentially react to any attack your opponent may throw out. If you get them really antsy, they may use an invincible reversal, sail into the air, and be a sucker for a giant combo. Harass! Harass! Harass!

Another element to keep in mind while playing Juri is herOD Shiku-Sen(⬇️↙️⬅️ + KK) which is her Dive Kick. This is an excellent tool for dealing with fireballs. So,if your opponent is chucking plasma at you, use this attack to punish from an otherwise safe distance. If you hit with it use the Shiren-Sen (K) follow-up, and then finish the combo off with a Heavy Tensenrin (➡️⬇️↘️ + HP).This is a grip of damage and can all be done pretty safely.

As we already mentioned in theFuhajin(⬇️↙️⬅️ + K) section, you will want to have three stocks of Fuha whenever possible. This will allow you to harass with thoseSaihasho (⬇️↘️➡️ + LK) attacks and convert those stray hits into big damage by chaining into yourAnkensatsu(⬇️↘️➡️ + MK). However, your main use for the Fuha will simply be sending out her Saihasho (⬇️↘️➡️ + LK). you’re able to use this projectile to create an absurd amount of pressure. You will find the dash up throw is much easier to land when you have one of these projectiles on the screen.

Juri’s OD Saihasho is even better than her Fuha-enhanced version, and will travel further. It is tempting to use it frequently, but make sure to keep an eye on your Drive Meter as it is very easy for Juri to burn through it.

Quite possibly the most important tool in Juri’s arsenal is her dash. This dash is frighteningly quick. It also moves her a great deal of distance. It is probably the best dash in the game. Because of it, you will be able to go from mid-range to nose-to-nose range in a single dash. You can even perform a throw loop off of your back throw (⬅️ + LP + LK), or your forward throw if your opponent is in the corner. You are going to need to find the right balance with this dash. If you become too predictable, you will run right into an attack, but you do want to convince your opponent that you can do it at any moment and get them thinking about it.We want to get in our opponent’s head and get them thinking about all things wecoulddo.

So, to sum things up…Whenever you hit your opponent with a Cr. MK, combo into her Medium Fuhajin (⬇️↙️⬅️ + MK) and then immediately follow with the light kick version. To gain a Fuha stock. If you have filled your Fuha meter, then go into herAnkensatsu(⬇️↘️➡️ + MK) instead and connect the Cr. MP and theHeavyTensenrin (➡️⬇️↘️ + P).

If you land your standing Heavy Kick as a Punish Counter (you will know when this happens, as the screen will freeze and shake for a moment) you can land either of your super attacks.Your standing heavy punch should also be thrown out, as if it lands you can get a heavy-hitting, meterless combo. ensure to throw out lots ofSaihasho (⬇️↘️➡️ + LK) projectiles, and dash in frequently. When your opponents jump at you, hit them with aHeavyTensenrin, or a Cr. HP.

Juri is truly a force to be reckoned with, follow this game plan, and you will ascend the ranks in no time.
