Other players lend a helping hand and in those higher-difficulty settings, it’s almost impossible to survive for long on your own. It’s pretty easy to get a multiplayer match up and running, so here’s everything you need to know about playing with friends in Remnant 2.
How To Play Co-Op
First things first, before you may get started withco-op multiplayeryou’ll need to finish off thetutorial and introduction sectionsfirst. They’renot too longand should take youabout ten minutesor so to finish in order tounlock your home base.
Once you reach the Hub,speak to Ford in his officeto start the process of setting up your character. Thengo to the various NPCslike Ava for mods and Wally tochoose your Archetype, thenfollow Ford into the Bunkerfrom the first game.
Down there in the dark, he’ll reveal the iconic Red Crystal Checkpointand it’s from that point that the story kicks in andmultiplayer becomes available. From that point on you can eitherjoin games through the Crystalorstart inviting in your buddiesas back-up to your Hub before heading off on an expedition into the unknown. You can alsodirectly invite playersto a specific point in the map as long as yourest at a checkpoint firstto allow them to spawn in.
There’sno local co-op, so you’llneed an internet connectionto play with others.
How To Join A Match
Joining a co-op match is pretty easy as there are anumber of options. To start off with,walk up to the Crystal Checkpointand interact with it, then select “Join Game” at the bottom right of the circle. This will bring up the game’spseudo-server listwith abig wheelin the center.
There will be a series of circles with each onedenoting a particular level the host is on, the difficulty, the mode, the number of players, and thePower Level. There are alsocircles within the wheelwith the top being thedifficulty modifiersand the bottom being the game modes ofCampaign and Adventure. From there you just need topick a circleand it will load you in.
If you’re planning to play with friends, you can simplyinvite them through your particular platforms friend list, or send them an invite using the games “Friends” menu. They’llreceive an inviteand will be able to join directly. Though you’ll have to rest at a checkpoint torefresh the worldwhich will in turn allow them to access your game. Also,any crystal countsso you don’t need to head back to the Hub.
How To Host A Match
Hosting aco-op match in Remnant 2is just as easy as joining one so youdon’t have a lot to worry about. To host a match, open the menu and select the “Game Session” option, you’ll bepresented with three options. Friends Only, Offline, and Public.
Set thistoggle to Publicand your session willinstantly be put onto the Public Server listat which point random playersclose to your Power Levelor those that choose your world can start joining your game. This is pretty handy if you want toimmediately make your game opento let others start diving right into the action. Or if you want to open things up before you load in, then you can also set it to “Public” on thefirst splash screenwhen you load up the game.It’s that simple.
How Loot Sharing Works In Co-Op
One of theabsolute banes of any online gamethat involves loot is how it’ssplit amongst players. In the past one party member couldhoover everything upthemselves, or everyone wouldget their own instanceof distinct and unique loot for your efforts. In Remnant 2,everybody gets a cut from your adventure.
How loot sharing in Remnant 2 works is that if someone grabs an item, say Iron, Scrap, or a Ring, theneveryone gets the exact same thing at that moment. It’s a great system for thischaotic roguelike gameas it means you cansplit up and comb every inch of the mapwithout having to worry about backtracking because someone in the party way off in the distance justfound a useful itemand you need to get your version. Plus, if you already have a particular item, you’ll get ahealthy dollop of crafting materialsand cash instead.So it benefits everyone.
