Season of the Malignant has brought with itDiablo 4’sfirst Battle Pass. As with most other live-service games, players can progress their Battle Pass reward track by completing a series of challenges tailored for the current season.

Increasing your Battle Pass rank will require you to complete your Season Journey, a progression system that rewards you with new Legendary Aspects, reward caches, and Battle Pass Favor as you complete each chapter. This guide will explain how the Seasonal Journey system works, its rewards, and showcase every challenge tied to all seven chapters in Season of the Malignant’s Battle Pass.
What Are Seasonal Journey Challenges?
The Seasonal Journey is Diablo 4’s take on a Battle Pass challenge system. Similar to games likeFortniteandDestiny 2, Diablo 4’s Battle Pass has a companion challenge system that provides additional rewards when completed, speeding up the leveling process by giving you Battle Pass progress (called Favor), Legendary Aspects, and reward caches.The Seasonal Journey and its related rewards are completely free;you do not need to own the Battle Pass to access this system.
Each cache of rewards is locked behind seven different challenge sets, referred to as “Chapters” in the Battle Pass UI.Each chapter contains a set number of challenges. You only need to complete a set number of them to progress.For example, the first chapter has nine available challenges. Completing seven of the challenges will progress you to the next chapter, rewarding you with a small bundle of goods as well.
Challenges Are Retroactive
Progress made towards locked chapter challenges is retroactive. For example, if you collect three Malignant Hearts for a C2 challenge while on C1, you’ll receive credit for collecting three hearts the second you finish the first chapter. Retroactive progress only applies to seasonal characters; Eternal Realm characters cannot access the Season Journey.
Accessing Your Seasonal Journey
You can view the Seasonal Journey through the Battle Pass menu.Head to the “Season” tab and select the “Seasonal Journey” ribbon on the left-hand side of your screen.This will present all challenges tied to the given season, categorized by chapter. You can view your current chapter progress, individual challenge rewards, later chapters, and chapter reward caches.

Chapter One Challenges
The first chapter contains nine objectives, all of which award Smaller Favor when completed.You must complete seven challenges from this chapter to progress.

Collect a Malignant Heart, available after completing or skipping the campaign.

Chapter Two Challenges
Chapter two has11 challenges in total, nine of which must be completedto reach the next chapter.
Stopping The Spread
Collect 3 Malignant Hearts, available after completing or skipping the campaign.
A Torch In The Depths
Compete 5 Malignant Tunnels, available after completing or skipping the campaign.
Vivisector
Collect 15 Demon Hearts, found from killing Demons or in Cellars.
Spit And Polish
Upgrade 2 items to T1 quality at the Blacksmith or Jeweler.
Chapter Three Challenges
You’ll need to completeten out of 13 objectivesto get past chapter three and receive your chapter rewards. Some of these challenges require you tocomplete Grim Favors for the Tree of Whispers, an endgame vendor that becomes available near the end of the campaign. Those that skipped the campaign can complete Whispers right after character creation.

Collect 5 Scattered Prisms, found from killing World Bosses or Treasure Goblins.
Risk And Reward
Touching The Eternal
Unlock 4 Aspects in the Codex of Power by completing Dungeons.
Hunter’s Whisper
Complete 10 Whispers for the Tree of Whispers, available after reaching a certain point in the campaign.
Steel From Iron
Upgrade two items to T2 quality at the Blacksmith or Jeweler.
Chapter Four Challenges
The fourth chapter in the Seasonal Journey requires you tocomplete 9 of 12 objectivesto reach the next set of challenges. Some of the challenges in this chapter require you to reach level 50 andcomplete the Cathedral of Light capstone dungeon. The latter requires campaign completion to access.
Heartrender
Collect 10 Malignant Hearts, available after completing or skipping the campaign.
A Legend At The Forge
Upgrade an item to T4 quality at the Blacksmith or Jeweler.
Slayer Challenges
The Slayer series of challenges is tuned around World Tier 3 characters, requiring you tocomplete Helltide events, clearNightmare Dungeons, and participate in other endgame activities. Since these challenges are generally harder than previous chapters, all challenges now award a greater sum of Favor.
A total ofnine challenges must be completedto reach the next tier. Slayer has 11 challenges in total.
Open a Tortured Gift chest during any Helltide event

Prophecy Manifest
Open a Tortured Gift of Mysteries chest during any Helltide event.
Restored Glory
Upgrade 2 items to T4 quality at a Blacksmith or Jeweler.
Exceeded Potential
Improve a Pagraon Glyph to level 4 by completing Nightmare Dungeons.
Champion Challenges
The Champion series of challenges requires you to further upgrade your character and push into the later stages of World Tier 3 and the start of World Tier 4.You must complete nine challengesout of 11 total to unlock the final set of objectives.
Ancestral Artisan
Upgrade 3 items to T5 quality at the Blacksmith or Jeweler.
The Gathering Fires
Acquire 1,000 Cinders during a Helltide event on World Tier 3 difficulty.
Destroyer Challenges
Destroyer is the final set of Battle Pass challenges for Season of the Malignant, consisting of eight difficult objectives.You must complete six challenges to receive the Destroyer chapter rewards.These challenges are designed around endgame characters atthe highest World Tier.
Blessed Mother Departed
Kill the Echo of Lilith in the Archives of Issalia on World Tier 4 difficulty.
