In the game’s first expansion, Hearts of Stone, this system is expanded through enchanting, adding a new way to improve your weapons with unique enhancements.

Such power doesn’t come cheap, of course. While you will have to complete a short questline in the process, the real challenge is financing the operation. This guide can’t really help you with the latter, but it will help you understand what you are getting from your investment.
How To Unlock Enchanting In The Witcher 3
The easiest way to unlock this quest would be tofind it at the Seven Cats Inn notice board,where you can find a notice left by the Runewright. Picking it up will start the questEnchanting: Start-up Costs.
This is the same notice board where you startEvil’s Soft First Touches,the first quest in the Hearts of Stone storyline.
Alternatively, you couldvisit the Runewright directly, where the quest will take you anyway. He is based atUpper Mill,in the northeast corner of the map,waiting in his tent.The Runewright had lost his specially-made enchanting tools to a shipwreck, leaving him unable to practice his craft.
Intrigued by the potential applications for the man’s craft, Geralt will offer tofront his startup costs of 5,000 crowns.In addition, the Runewright will need Geralt to find achunk of jade.

Finding The Jade
Geralt’s rumors give himthree possible siteswhere he can mine jade. The only one that will give him anything would beBloodrot Pit,where you will have to deal with spider-like arachnomorphs to get inside.
You can startTreasure Hunt: The Drakenborg Redemptionfrom this location. It will take you deeper into the cave, though you will berewarded with a pile of moneyat the end of your journey.
The jade isin the first chamber,at the foot of a pillar. you’re able to spot it withGeralt’s Witcher Senses.Excavate it andreturn to the Runewrighttounlock the first level of enchanting.
The Start-Up Costs
Your financial support does not end here. You haveonly unlocked the first level of enchanting.There aretwo more levelsto enjoy (and pay for).
