Age Of Wonders 4introduces a system called “My Pantheon” to the franchise. This lets you save your favorite characters so that they’ll appear in later campaigns, and also serves as the game’s mechanism for unlocking new options. Cosmetics, weapons, and even Culture Traits are available through My Pantheon, so it pays to know how it works!

By the time you’ve played through a few maps, you’ll have a robust roster of Godir ready to aid in future conquests. You’ll also have more clothing options and tools for building your perfect fantasy empire!
How To Add Characters To My Pantheon
Whenever you win a game of Age Of Wonders 4 through any victory condition, you’ll be given the option toascend your Ruler to Magehavenafter you leave the postgame stats screen. Doing so saves the Ruler to My Pantheon, which can be accessed in theupper-right corner of the title screen.
When you complete a Story Realm, all the major characters from that Realm will also join My Pantheon - this makes completing the story campaign a great way to fill your roster!
Listed with each character in My Pantheon is their Affinity requirement for recruiting them (see below), which is based on their Affinity at the time of their ascension. You can also set each character to “Hero” or “Ruler” by clicking the button to the right of their listing. This will change the box next to their portrait between green and red, with the following effects:
You can also play another game as an Ascended character by choosing their empire (pre-made or custom) at the start of a new game. They willstart with the same traits they began their original game with, so there is no additional benefit to playing a Ruler who has previously Ascended.

How To Recruit A Hero From My Pantheon
Each character on the My Pantheon list has a chance of appearing in later campaigns via an event calledA Godir’s Aid. If you meet the Affinity requirements listed next to their name on the My Pantheon screen, then a character may offer to join your current game as a Hero. Accepting their helpimmediately recruits them for free, with their original starting equipment and at the maximum starting level for newly-recruited Heroes depending on your current campaign progress.
If recruiting the Pantheon Hero would put you over your current Hero Cap (equal to the number of cities you currently control), accepting their aid willinstead send them to the Hero Recruitment screenwith a base recruitment cost of zero. You can either pay the fee for recruiting over your cap, or wait until you have an open slot to recruit them for free.
How To Unlock New Content In My Pantheon
Each time you complete a game - win or lose - you’ll receivePantheon Pointsbased on your achievements in that game. Defeating enemy characters, fostering relations with Free Cities, and claiming Ancient Wonders are just a few of the deeds that will earn you Pantheon Points!
When you’ve earned enough Pantheon Points to level up, you may unlock a new feature on the My Pantheon screen -click the right-hand tabto visit the Pantheon Tree. Most of the unlockables are cosmetics, allowing you to customize the appearance of your Rulers and Heroes, but once you reach the middle of the tree you’ll start to seeunlockables with laurels next to their names. These items have in-game effects, and includenew starting equipmentand Culture Traits.
