He comes to town on thethird and eighth days of the season, so save your gold and head over when you’re ready to expand or upgrade.

Upgrading your tools in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life is as easy asbuying the upgrade from Van.
In thefirst few years, you won’t be able to upgrade tools withoutbuying upgrades, so it’s best to save early. This changes later, but for the first while in the game, you’ll need gold.
Get Blessed Tools From Bullet Board Requests
For the final Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life tool upgrades, you’ll need to finish some pretty complicatedBulletin Board requestsfor a few folks in town.
Once you’vemaxed your friendshipwith them, the following year,Vesta, Pui, and Romanawill post special requests that list"Special Tools"as a reward.
