Upgrading tools is a must inRoots of Pacha. Not only to make your farming life easier, but to also help you obtain those rare and valuable gemstones in the caves. The caves open up after your fourth day in the village and should be explored as soon as you have the chance.

It’s important to get acquainted with the cave early, as you’ll be spending a lot of your time there. Since all the tools in Roots of Pacha require numerous resources that can only be found inside the caves. Here we have all the resources necessary for upgrading your tools and how to get them.
How To Upgrade Tools
The majority of tools can be obtained and upgraded byspeaking with Acre. After asking Acre for an upgrade, she will take several days to craft the desired tool. Some tools and upgrades will also requirethe completion of certain ideas and buildings.
The tools station is a building that allows for Acre to upgrade tools with obsidian. Upgrading the tools station further with copper allows Acre to upgrade tools with copper and tin. From here, all you need to do isprovide Acre with the proper resources and contribution pointsto receive your desired tool.

How To Get Roots/Plant Fibers
Plant fibers are obtained by cutting down tufts of grass using your handaxe. Plant fibers are used tocreate the flint hammer and flint axe.
Plant fibers don’t have much use in terms of crafting tools, but can be used for crafting various ideas. Plant fibers are also a great resource for feeding animals.
How To Get Flint
You can get flint as soon as the caves first open up. The cave is located in thenorthern part of the forest area. Areas in the cave are limited, to advance furtheryou have to break rockswhich also rewards you some stone.
After opening up several areas, you will come across a giant stone statue that looks like an armadillo, which requires an offering of eithera pomegranate or a pineconeto progress.
Both of these resources can beshaken off trees in the forest. After giving the statue your item of choice, a minigame will start where you have to count how many creatures you see rolling around —the answer is five.
After completing this minigame, the next room will open up. Here, you will find rocks withflint poking out from inside. Destroying these rocks will drop flint.
How To Get Hardwood
Hardwood can be obtained by cutting down large trees withthe flint axe. Plenty of big trees can be found inthe village and savannah area.
You should stock up on a lot of hardwood since it isused to craft many tool upgrades.
Cutting down smaller trees willonly give you regular wood.
How To Get Obsidian
Obsidian can be obtained after completing the Owl Totem’s puzzle inside the cave. You will come across this room by naturally progressing through the cave.
To initiate the Owl Totem’s puzzle, you need to present the totem with apomegranate, any root vegetable and any of fish. These offerings should be placed onthe left, middle and right respectively.
Finishing this side quest gives you the ability to transform into an owl at themarked locations inside the cave. You will also get access to the cave’s map after solving the puzzle.
Looking at the map and head to the room called “A Short Flight.” In this room,fly west to find a platformwhere you can progress further. Keep going, and you will reach an area called “A Very Dark Room.” In the northern part of the room, near the yellow armadillo, you will find an area that’s covered in darkness.
Go into the darkness and take the first right. Continue on right, go down, then follow the path. You will find a room on the east side that will contain rocks with obsidian inside. You will needthe flint hammerto break these obsidian rocks.
How To Get Copper
Copper can be obtained aftercompleting the Monkey’s Totem puzzle inside “Monkey Room.“This room can be found by moving west one room from “No Man’s Rock” then heading all the way north.
To initiate the Monkey Totem’s puzzle, you need to present the totem withany type of fruit juice, flour and any fermented fish. These items should be placed onthe left, middle and right respectively.
Finishing this side quest gives youthe ability to transform into a monkeyat marked locations to jump across spires.
From “Monkey Room,” head south two rooms, then east one room. Now, head all the way north until you reach a room called"Stomp Your Feet.”
Then, headout west from this room,where you’ll find a location to turn into a monkey. Hop across the path and head north. In this area there should be rocks with copper inside. You’ll need anobsidian hammerto break copper rocks.
How To Get Tin
Tin can be obtained after you tocomplete the Bear Totem’s puzzle inside “Bear Room.“This room is found directly east of the “Pacha’s Pair-of-Rocks” room.
To initiate the Bear Totem’s puzzle, you need to present the totem withhoney, any wine and any cheese. These items should be placed onthe left, middle and right respectively.
Finishing this side quest gives you the ability tosummon a bear spirit to destroy barriersand multiple objects in front of you.
Tin is rare and often difficult to find, but it cansometimes drop from any type of rockrandomly. Tin is morecommonly found behind these barriers with the bear’s markon them.
