Although Valheim is currently still in Early Access, it’s absolutely jam-packed with content, including six bosses and six biomes, with more to come. In terms of building, you can create your base from materials such as wood, stone, or marble. There are plenty of decorations for your Viking abode, making it feel more real and lived-in. Unlike the popular survival gameMinecraft, building physics in Valheim are semi-realistic, with gravity limiting how whimsical your builds are.

Overall, Valheim is simple and atmospheric. With six bosses scattered around the world to give you a sense of progression, there is always a goal to work towards. As a survival crafting game though, you can take your time, get distracted, and make giant structures worthy of a true Viking.
Time Expenditure
Many survival crafting games don’t have an ‘end’. While tasks can be completed, you may really just keep crafting and surviving forever. This holds true for Valheim as well. You will make your own fun and decide what to do; if you choose to fight all six bosses as quickly as possible, you will reach the ‘end’ of this progression quicker. If, on the other hand, you like to build castles and terraform, then you won’t progress through the bosses as quickly.
Defeating all six bosses will take youaround 75 hours. This time expenditure will soar above 100 hours if you choose to do other activities.
Overall, you’re able to expect a near-endless amount of fun. It’s possible to spend over 100 hours in one world. If the world eventually feels boring, you canstart again with a new seed.
Cost
Currently, you’re able to play Valheim on PC and Xbox. On both of these platforms, Valheim will cost $19.99 USD. There is currently no paid DLC or add-ons, and updates to the game are all free.
Valheim can also be played throughXbox Game Pass. This is a subscription service that will let you play tons of games each month without purchasing them. The price of Game Pass depends on what plan you choose, but the lowest subscription will cost you $9.99 USD.

Even in early access, there’s more content in Valheim than in some fully-released games, making Valheim more than worth playing.

New survival crafting games release all the time, creating a sea of average games. Valheim stands above the rest though. The game has hundreds of hours worth of content, delivered to you in a cozy world lit by campfires. The cozy vibes are reinforced by the relentlessly relaxing and atmospheric music that plays even when you are in danger.
It’s amazing that Valheim is still in early access, given how much content there is for you to complete. I’ve devoted hours to making the perfect longhouse instead of focusing on the next boss, and that’s perfectly fine. Valheim is 100 percent worth it and is a must-have for lovers of survival games.
