Even the biggest fan ofStar Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 - The Sith Lordswill tell you not to play it without the restored content mod. Sadly, so much of what makes KOTOR 2’s great was left on the cutting room floor, put back together in a mod years later. But now, it looks like a whole bunch of KOTOR 2 players are going to miss out on this.
One year after the KOTOR 2 Switch port was announced, the promised cut content DLCis still nowhere to be found. Worse yet, all mentions of the DLC have been removed from developer Aspyr’s YouTube channel. The reveal trailer itself was recently edited to remove the part that mentions the DLC, suggesting that it was quietly cancelled amidst the studio’s highly publicised issues over the past year.

This disappointing anniversary was spotted by fans over on r/KOTOR, noting that there hasn’t been an official statement on the state of the DLC in months.
Another user, OpoChano, then noted thatAspyr’s upload of the reveal traileris the only one that doesn’t mention the restored content DLC, with IGN’s, Nintendo’s, and more still listing it as “coming soon”. While the Wayback Machine wasn’t able to archive the video, it does prove that Aspyr has removed its mention of the DLC from the video’s description, showing a conscious effort to erase any mention of its existence.
When the video was first uploaded, we can see thatthe description read: “The Sith Lords Restored Content DLC will be available post-launch as free DLC in the Nintendo eShop.” However, the version that’s live on the channel now has had this sentence removed, not mentioning the DLC at all. The last archive of the video to mention the DLC was saved in April, so this would be a recent development.
We’ve reached out to Aspyr for clarification on the matter, as the DLC was never officially cancelled. AnFAQ pageon the DLC still lists its release date as “Q3 2022”, a window that has obviously come and gone. Since missing this intended launch period, there’s been no comment on the matter from official channels - but the mess behind the scenes might give us some insight.
Having long handled releases of KOTOR on modern systems, it wasn’t surprising when Aspyr was tasked with remaking the first game. Yet after ahype-inducing trailer in 2021, everything was pretty silent for a while. That is until it was reported thattwo leads had been let go and the game was hit with an “indefinite” delay. Shortly after this, Aspyr was removed from development altogether, withEmbracer Group putting Saber Interactive on the project instead. While not confirmed, it’s possible that the KOTOR 2 DLC was canned alongside these changes.
