Last Rite itself is a Legendary version of Dead Man’s Tale, featuring the same fire rate and general look as that Exotic. If you’re a fan of Aggressive Scout Rifles or need to complete some Seasonal Challenges, you’ll want to get your hands on this weapon at some point during Season of the Deep. This guide will cover how to get your hands on the Last Rite, its ornaments, and cover the weapon’s static perks.
How To Obtain The Last Rite
The Last Rite can be obtained by reaching Rank 16 with Commander Zavala, Lord Shaxx, or the Drifter.Reputation with each vendor is accumulated by playing that vendor’s respective activity. Zavala oversees Vanguard Ops and Nightfalls, Shaxx runs the Crucible, and the Drifter runs Gambit.
Earning reputation is as simple as playing any of those playlists, althoughplaying the same activity consecutively will award more reputation. For more information on reputation ranks and farming strategies, check out our vendor rank guides below:
Last Rite Ornaments
As with all previous ritual weapons, Last Rite has three ornaments you can earn. Each ornament is tied to a specific playlist, unlocked upon resetting your rank once and reaching Rank 16 again. For example, the Vanguard ornament for Last Rite is earned by resetting your Vanguard Rank with Commander Zavala and reaching Rank 16 once again.
you may reset your rank byclaiming all rewards from the vendor once you reach max rank.Grabbing the final reward on their reward track will reset your rank, refreshing your reward track. You’ll have to do this with all three vendors to acquire all three ornaments.
Warrior Rubric (Vanguard)
Warrior Rubric is the Vanguard ornament for Last Rite, obtained byresetting your rank and reaching Rank 16 with Commander Zavala. This is the toughest one to earn since Vanguard Rank progress is fairly slow after its rework in Lightfall.
We recommendfarming Hero or Legend-tier Nightfallsto earn as much reputation as possible from every activity. Higher difficulties grant more reputation but are significantly more difficult.
Duelist Rubric (Crucible)
The Duelist Rubric is the Crucible ornament for Last Rite. You’ll need toreset your rank with Lord Shaxx and reach Rank 16 again to claim this ornament.PvP matches give a respectable amount of reputation progress with each game, especially once you build up an Activity Streak by playing consecutive matches.
For playlists to farm, we recommendMayhem, Team Scorched, and Momentum Controlwhenever they’re active. If none are active, play Control.
Outcast Rubric (Gambit)
The Outcast Rubric is the Gambit ornament for Last Rite. You can earn this byresetting your rank with the Drifter and reaching Rank 16 again.Gambit grants bonus reputation for consecutive matches and Gambit wins, so try your best at winning every match while grinding for this ornament. The Freelance Gambit playlist is highly recommended, as it prevents you from matchmaking with premade groups.

Opening Shot
Focused Fury
Last Rite is an Aggressive 120 RPM Scout Rifle that resides in the Kinetic slot. Itbehaves identically to Dead Man’s Tale and the Long Arm, levering each shot with minimal recoil. Reloading this weapon loads two shots incrementally until the chamber is full, similar to how shotguns work. This weapon doesnothave pinpoint hip-fire accuracy unlike its Exotic cousin.
As for perks,Keep AwayandOpening Shotis a solid combination for PvP but nothing spectacular. This archetype has a subpar TTK of one second without any damage buffs, making it subpar compared to meta Pulse Rifles and SMGs. Using this weapon in the Crucible is not recommended.
For PvE, you’ll want to useReconstructionandFocused Fury. This will passively reload Last Rite while you’re not shooting, overflowing the magazine to double capacity if you wait long enough. If you land half of these overloaded rounds as precision hits, you’ll triggerFocused Fury, granting a 20% damage buff for a short duration. It’s solid for seasonal content but struggles in Legend and Master difficulties. If you want to make this gun stronger, use Kinetic Weapon Surge mods on your leg armor.Solar’s Radiant buffalso greatly helps this weapon’s performance in PvE.
