Ever sinceMarvel’s Spider-Man 2was announcedall the way back in 2021, we’ve had nothing but scraps to go off of for potential features and new abilities. In fact, we’ve had so little official news that Spider-Man fans aresick to the back teeth of seeing that one image of Peter Parker and Miles Moralesstood on a street looking at the camera. We’ve taken to analyzing every single piece of Spider-Man media that’s been released in the last two years for any potential clues about Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, and that diligence may have actually paid off.The release of Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse is fast-approaching, and fans seem to think that a newly released poster for the movie is hinting at a new ability that will be included in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Insomniac’s version of Spider-Man haspopped up in a few trailers for the movie already, and he’s once again featured on this new poster. However, fans have spotted a piece of webbing underneath his arms this time around, and many seem to think this means Insomniac is adding a wing suit to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.Related:Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Can’t Just Be More Of The SameAll of you avid Spider-Man fans out there will know that Peter Parker has used a wing suit in previous releases, most notably Spider-Man: Far From Home. It’s not something he busts out quite regularly, but there have been a few occassions in which our friendly neighbourhood spider has preferred to glide through the streets of New York rather than swing. Another fan also mentions that the web wings were also featured as a collectible in the first game, but Peter admits that they “never really worked”.
Marvel’s Spider-Man’s satisfying traversal mechanics are definitely the biggest highlight of the series for many, so the addition of a wing suit in addition to web swinging makes sense as way to build upon those features. It could even function similarly to Batman’s gliding ability from the Arkham series, although something tells me it would be a little faster in Spider-Man.
Of course, this is all conjecture, and fans could simply be reading into a movie poster a little too much, but it would definitely be a good way for Insomniac to shake things up a little bit after releasing two fairly similar titles. I guess we’ll find out for sure when the Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 releases later this year, which will apparently happen in September ifrecent comments from Venom voice actor Tony Todd are accurate. Here’s hoping we get an official release date confirmation soon.
