It might be the worst-kept secret in video games right now, butMetal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater’s remake still hasn’t been officially confirmed to even exist. It has been claimedofficial confirmation will finally manifest at this Wednesday’s PlayStation Showcase, but don’t panic if you don’t have aPS5. Apparently, the remake isn’t going to be aPlayStationexclusive.

It is worth noting as with everything related to the remake that this is a rumor for now, one that will hopefully be confirmed to be valid on Wednesday. According toInsider Gaming, Snake Eater’s remake will be part of the Showcase this week. However, it’ll be confirmed during the teaser, or perhaps shortly after, that the remake will launch onXbox Series X|SandSteamas well as PS5.

There were fears among some gamers that the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake would be confirmed to be an exclusive, or at least a timed exclusive, upon reveal due to the Showcase rumors. However, games given a spotlight during PlayStation shows aren’t all exclusives. Yes, titles likeSpider-Man 2andThe Last Of Us Factionswill likely be there, but plenty of third-party games will be a part of the festivities, especially with more than an hour to fill.

The Metal Gear remake is up there competing for the record of longest development period without confirmation from anyone in an official capacity that it’s actually happening. First rumored to be coming in 2021, we have effectively experienced a series of potential hints surfacing and then being immediately shot down ever since, the latest of which beingDonna Burke’s Snake Eater song projectwhich apparentlyhas nothing to do with the remake.

Although there’s evidence the remake will have a spot on the Showcase, Snake Eater is effectively on the same plane as aBloodborneremake at this point. A game that everyone convinces themselves will be present every time PlayStation has something to tell us only to be disappointed when it doesn’t make an appearance. Here’s hoping Metal Gear Solid 3’s streak comes to an end this week in that regard, and that it won’t be a PlayStation exclusive.

Snake Eater remake or not, it seems likelyKonamiwill have some sort of presence at the Showcase on Wednesday. Also rumored to be making an appearance of some sort isCastlevania, while others are convinced this will be the stage on which we finally learn a little Silent Hill 2 remake. Other leaks paint a disappointing picture for those of youwaiting for Ghost of Tsushima 2 and Dragon Age: Dreadwolf updates, though.
