Mortal Kombat 1is set to have a character reveal during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con and fans think that it could be Ashrah fromMortal KombatDeception.

It might have only been just over a week since we had new characters revealed for Mortal Kombat 1 (Smoke and Rain gang, rise up), but it looks like we’re not far off some more roster reveals. Ed Boon previously announced that Mortal Kombat 1 would be making an appearance at San Diego Comic-Con on July 21, but more details on the panel have given us some hints as to what could be there.

Over on the Comic-Con website, the official synopsis for the Mortal Kombat 1 panel has been shared and it makes it pretty clear what’s about to happen. It reads, “Panelists include Ed Boon (chief creative officer, NetherRealm Studios, and co-creator of Mortal Kombat), Dominic Cianciolo (story director, NetherRealm Studios), and Thiago Gomes (art development director, NetherRealm Studios), and actors Vincent Rodriguez III (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, With Love) as Raiden, Kelly Hu (X2: X-Men United, BMF, Young Justice)as a character to be revealed at the panel”.

As shared by Twitter user BruskPoet, it’s the mention of Kelly Hu that’s the big hint here. Hu has been involved in several Mortal Kombat projects in the past, including voicing D’Vorah in several games and being the voice of Sindel in Mortal Kombat X, before being replaced by Mara Junot in Mortal Kombat 11.

Although that might seem like it’s a hint towards D’Vorah being on the roster, there’s actually a third option that it seems much more likely to be. Hu is also the voice of Ashrah in Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match, an upcoming animated film that focuses on Johnny Cage. Since she’s playing the character in that animated movie, it seems rather likely that she could also be voicing the character in Mortal Kombat 1.

For those who don’t know, Ashrah is an incredibly popular character from the 3D era that first appeared in Mortal Kombat Deception. She hasn’t officially been on the roster since the new era began with Mortal Kombat 9, but she’s been a firm fan favourite for some time now, which would make for a great reveal. Ed Boon has suggested several times that the 3D era would play a big part in Mortal Kombat 1, after all. It’s also worth noting that, even though it might have been disproven by the reveal of Rain as a playable character,Ashrah appeared on the big roster leak that appeared shortly after Mortal Kombat 1 was revealed.
