Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connectionshas a surprisingly deep reference in one of its new team Ultimate Jutsus, one that has the whole Uzumaki family teaming up.
Over the past few months,Bandai Namcohas been revealing more of Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections and showing that it’s not just the Storm repackage that we all thought it was at first.Not only has it revealed four brand-new characters being added to the game, but it’s also seeminglyshowcased some gameplay mechanics that haven’t yet been talked about.

As it turns out, new characters and mechanics aren’t the only things that are being added to Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections - it’s also introducing some new team Ultimate Jutsus. Team Ultimate Jutsus were originally introduced in Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution and allowed characters on the same team to perform a unique finishing move that combines their talents into a flashy finisher.
Since Revolution, Team Ultimate Jutsus have been featured and built upon in every subsequent Ultimate Ninja Storm game and Connections is no different.Over on the official Naruto games Twitter page, two brand new team attacks were revealed, and one of them has a surprisingly deep reference to the manga hidden within it.
The reference can be spotted in the brand-new Uzumaki family Team Ultimate Jutsu,which was shown off in several screenshots. The attack features Naruto, Boruto, and Hinata going to attack together, before Boruto’s shinobi cards spill out on the battleground, revealing an embarrassing card of Hinata dressed like Santa. This makes her embarrassed, causing her to hit Naruto and Boruto, presumably sending them flying into the enemy.
At first glance, this might just seem like a random card,but it’s actually a callback to a holiday omake featured in the Boruto manga all the way back in 2017. In the bonus one-shot, Boruto is seen opening a special pack of Christmas-themed shinobi cards with his friends. The final card he gets in his pack is a rare card that features Hinata dressed up as Santa, which embarrasses Boruto. If this Team Ultimate Jutsu is anything to go by, however, he got over the embarrassment and kept it in his collection.
It’s not just the Uzumaki family that’s getting a brand new Team Ultimate Jutsu, however.The Naruto Twitter also highlighted a new one for Sasuke, Sarada, and Sakura, which sees them performing the “Uchiha Cherry Blossom Shock”. Like the Uzumaki family attack, we don’t actually get to see it in action aside from the screenshots, but it looks like it sees the family using a combination of Sharingans and Chidoris.
