One Piece’s story has come a long way with so many characters introduced that it’s quite hard to keep track of every being shown thus far. When speculating just how powerful some devil fruits are and comparing them to one another, you need to go back and revisit the time they were introduced and their usage so far.

There are several kinds of devil fruits now, each with a specific classification. Long gone are the days when fruits would just be classified into three types, Logia, Paramecia, and Zoan. Now, things are more nuanced. Ancient, Carnivorous, Mythical, and even unclassified fruits exist. Some even lack the proper understanding or context to truly show off what they’re capable of — nothing’s set in stone.
9Uma Uma No Mi, Model: Pegasus
Even though the character that ate this fruit is called Stronger, he’s still one of the laziest animals featured in the series. He’s the perfect companion to the Blackbeard Pirates’ Doc Q, someone equally tired and exhausted looking as him. This devil fruit grants the user the ability to transform into a Pegasus or something similar.
Unfortunately, since Stronger was already a horse and there’s no indication that you’ll ever see the previous user in the manga or anime, the extent of the body’s modification can’t be deduced. Stronger only gained wings and the ability to fly so far. So, this fruit’s not going to come in very handy in a fight.
8Hito Hito No Mi, Model: Onyudo
Once a simple fox compatriot of the Daimyo of Ringo, Ushimaru Shimotsuki, at some point, ate the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Onyudo, and gained the ability to transform into a humanoid capable of communicating with other humans. Onyudo isa Japanese yokai(demon) that assumes the form of a human-like giant monk, which is why this devil fruit is classified as a mythical one.
Besides his transformation into Gyukimaru, Onimaru hasn’t shown what he’s capable of beyond that. Gyukimaru is strong enough to give Roronoa Zoro a hard time, but barely kept up with him when the latter got serious, hence it’s not that useful in a fight.
7Inu Inu No Mi, Model: Kyubi No Kitsune
Being able to transform or shapeshift into anyone is a fairly useful trick to employ in battle, as evidenced by the previous user of the Mane Mane no Mi fruit’s actions — Higurashi Kuruzomi used it to fool Oden into believing they took Mononosuke hostage before Kaido dealt a decisive blow on him.
The Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Kyubi no Kitsune essentially grants the same abilities, but with an added touch, since the user’s clothes also change with them. Be that as it may, you won’t get any extra strength buffs or anything wacky with this devil fruit, so it’s not that effective for a skirmish. It has its strategic purposes though, and a strong character like Catarina Devon can be especially formidable with this power-up.
6Hebi Hebi No Mi, Model: Yamata No Orochi
If you play your cards right, the Hebi Hebi no Mi, Model: Yamato no Orochi can practically make you a seemingly immortal being since it not only grants the user the ability to transform into a Hydra-like creature, but also gives them the power to get decapitated a total of eight times before they actually perish from their wounds.
The differences between the Greek Hydra and the Japanese Yamato no Orochi are the number of heads they both have — the former has nine while the latter has eight heads and eight tails — and the fact that Hydras are poisonous and practically immortal unless their severed limbs are cauterized.

Since the devil fruit’s user Orochi was so weak, even the strength buff granted to him during his full transformation barely mattered, and he was swiftly dealt with by Kinemon. Although Orochi’s unexpected comebacks made him quite an annoying foe, the fruit’s pretty practical for a strategic approach to any battle.
5Inu Inu No Mi, Model: Okuchi No Makami
This devil fruit lets the user transform into the legendary guardian deity of Wano, hence its mythical status. Although this fruit grants the user two transformations — a hybrid and a full form — its ice powers are what make it special. Since it’s a carnivorous Zoan type, it also grants the user an increase in power and predatory instincts.
Yamato was a capable fighter before using his devil fruit’s abilities, but after transforming he was capable of rivaling the likes of a hybrid-Kaido despite how incredibly strong the latter is. That fact alone makes it fairly viable. Unfortunately, it still couldn’t compare to the level of strength the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Sieryu brings to the table.
4Tori Tori No Mi, Model: Pheonix
Not only does it grant the user the ability to fly, but it also lets them emit flames that can heal their allies. The Tori Tori No Mi, Model: Phoenix is a formidable devil fruit to be up against with its strength buffs and practical uses.
Someone like Marco is perfectly suited to the fruit and is capable of fending off both All-Stars Queen and King for a substantial amount of time due to the fact that the flames can regenerate the user if they suffer any lethal damage over the course of the battle.
Both the hybrid and full transformation give the user a speed buff, and sharp talons that can be used on offense to deal considerable damage. The fruit is extremely useful.
3Hito Hito No Mi, Model: Daibutsu
Aside from Sengoku’s practical application of what the fruit is capable of during the Summit War, the fruit’s true potential has never been realized as far as its hybrid form and abilities are concerned. You barely got to see it in action too, since the former fleet admiral used it to simply control the situation rather than become an active part of it.
It grants the user some exceptional strength buffs and increases their size. The user adopts a form that resembles a giant golden Buddha statue, albeit with short legs. The scope of Sengoku’s power after transformation can’t yet be gauged, but it did rival the likes of the Quake Quake Fruit’s shockwaves during the war.
It’s power that Sengoku barely ever uses, and an indication that the former fleet admiral wasn’t occupying his post for nothing. He was an absolute powerhouse capable of changing the outcome of any skirmish if left unchecked. The devil fruit has no apparent weaknesses either.
2Uo Uo No Mi, Model: Seiryu
With an armada of strong-willed and capable individuals thrown at him from left and right, and after surviving a barrage of seemingly crippling heavy attacks from his enemies, Kaido was still strong enough to overpower and endure through most of it with barely any scratches thanks to his mythical Zoan devil fruit that lets him transform into a dragon.
Even in his hybrid form, Kaido gets a defense boost because of his scales and can launch fireballs at will that deal very high damage. Not only that, his dragon form can fly by grabbing clouds, and it can also produce clouds that can lift an entire island up. Immeasurable durability can make or break your odds of survival, hence this fruit is a valuable asset to any side.

Kaido brushed off all sorts of individuals with all kinds of devil fruit powers and abilities, and he mostly did it effortlessly. If anyone else had his fruit, there’s reason to believe they’d be almost just as formidable as he was but withoutthe anger issues.
1Hito Hito No Mi, Model: Nika
Formerly known as the Gomu Gomu no Mi, this legendary mythical Zoan devil fruit lets the user embody the will of Nika, the Shandean Sun God of liberation. Although fans don’t know what the previous incarnation of Joyboy was capable of using the powers of this fruit yet, they do know that he was strong enough to lead the ancient kingdom and pose a considerable threat to the world government.
It was risky enough for them to outright hunt down the fruit and rename it in case the people of the One Piece world find out what the devil fruit can actually do. The fruit itself gives the user limitless potential since it’s not tied down by the laws of reality. Like rubber, the abilities granted to a user make the laws of the surrounding space flexible.
The sky’s the limit as far as power goes since the fruit’s main abilities revolve around one’s imagination and willpower to manifest it. The user gets a unique glow that surrounds them and coats their entire body. Along with that, they get a propensity for laughing and goofing off.
The user can literally turn Earth into rubber, convert their size, and become a giant, or even fly if they run on air fast enough. It’s mind-numbing seeing it in action and would definitely devastate the enemy’s forces within minutes without an afterthought. It’seasily the strongestdevil fruit in the story so far, as far as practical use and viability mid-battle are concerned.
