Sonic Frontiers' latest update has finally addressed complaints about the game’s momentum by adding an option to adjust Sonic’s deceleration speed after jumping and fans are ecstatic about it. When Sega showcased the latest update for Sonic Frontiers at Sonic Central a few days ago, it might have seemed like it wasn’t very noteworthy as,aside from the spin-dash, it seemed to mainly focus on some new cosmetics and challenges to celebrate Sonic’s birthday....

SonicPrime’s second season has a bunch of references to the games, including some obvious ones toSonic Adventure, and some more obscure ones to Sonic Unleashed and even the Sonic movie. Tears of the Kingdomis somehow everything we all wanted, nothing like we expected, and still weighed down with the biggest controversyNew Zeldahas wrought. It’s a wonderful conundrum. I remain mostly an outsider to the world of Tears of the Kingdom, untouched by its magic, so I can watch from afar with no real personal stakes. The internet is in ruins. Or at least, the free internet as we know it. I’m of a generation who remembers the internet pre-social media (just about), when forums dominated the web and you could only see tweets if you had a bird feeder. Well, hear tweets. You get the joke. Birds, grass, Musk, etc. The early ‘00s were a lawless time for the internet. I was a child, so I mostly stuck toWarhammerforums and Club Penguin, before graduating to the teenage sections of Warhammer forums and Runescape....

HBO’sThe Last of Usis a great show, but after sitting on it for a few months, I’ll admit much of the praise feels overblown. Aside fromBill and Frank’s fantastic bottle episodeand strong performances from Bella Ramsay and Pedro Pascal, it’s a relatively safe adaptation of the source material which didn’t push post-apocalyptic storytelling forward much as it should have. Perhaps this divisive reaction towards the series’ 24 Emmy nominations this week is thanks to my intimate familiarity withNaughty Dog’s masterpiece, and how its success has become so ingrained in the world of triple-A gaming that to see the very same storytelling principles expressed on television and then hailed as some sort of newfound triumph can’t help boggle my mind....
