Payday 3’s developers want to crossover with Die Hard andBatmanin the future, as well as give aJohn Wickcollaboration another go with a heist set inside the Continental.
Over the years, the Payday series has slowly become known for its crossovers and collaborations with different games and movies, with some of the most notable ones including John Wick, Tony Montana from Scarface, Bill Overbeck fromLeft 4 Dead, and, my personal favourite, Jacket fromHotline Miami, complete with tape recording voice lines.

Considering Payday 3 was only properly revealed last month at the Xbox Showcase, nothing has been properly announced about the game’s potential crossovers in the future, which meant that Ihadto ask some of the game’s developers what they’d love to see when I had the chance to visit the Starbreeze offices to go hands-on with the game.
While speaking to Almir Listo, Payday 3’s community head/ brand manager, and the game’s producer, Andreas Häll-Penninger, I asked them what they’d like to see crossover into the Payday universe in the future. Listo suggested Die Hard with John McClane and Nakotomi Plaza, while he and Häll-Penninger agreed that Batman would be a great opportunity.
Listo said, “I have two ones that I jump to straight away - John McClane from Die Hard so (Hans Gruber) can say ‘it’s John McClane, shoot the glass!’ in Nakatomi Plaza. And then, Batman, of course. Imagine an ominous light, then Batman jumps down through the glass, you hear the music and then he just fucks you up.”
Häll-Penninger echoed the thought of Batman, noting, “Yeah, I like the idea of Batman. Imagine having an entire season in Gotham City until you’re doing a bank robbery at nighttime and suddenly you see the Batsignal up in the sky. There are no Cloakers, it’s just Batman and everyone is down without 20 seconds.”
That’s not the only potential crossover that Listo and Häll-Penninger discussed, either.Payday 2 players will remember that one of the biggest crossovers that game had was John Wick, which was released just as the first movie was coming out. Now that the series has become a massive deal, it looks like Starbreeze is keen to revisit that well and expand on it, going as far as suggesting that the Continental could be one of the game’s playable levels.
Listo said, “Nothing is confirmed, but I think anything is a possibility post-launch. We mentioned that Payday 2 has over 30 collabs, including John Wick, and that we actually launched the character two days before the first movie came out as a cool way of introducing the character to the world. I think, if all goes well with Payday 3, I’m sure Lionsgate would be up for a conversation about Mr Wick.”
