A leaker who previously shared information aboutPersona 3 ReloadandPersona 5 Tacticabefore they were announced has claimed thatPersona 6’s codename is “Carbon” and that they’ve only seen it running on a PS5 so far.

It’s been an exciting couple of months for Persona fans thanks to theleaking and subsequent announcements of Persona 3 Reload, Persona 5 Tactica, andAtlus' new fantasy RPG, Metaphor ReFantazio. As great as those two reveals were, most fans are still keeping one hopeful eye open for news on the sixth mainline entry in the series, which has been rumoured for some time but has yet to be officially announced bySega.

While Atlus seemingly isn’t ready to pull back the curtain on the next big Persona game, that hasn’t stopped details on it being leaked out. Earlier today,Twitter user MbKKssTBhz5, who previously shared information on Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Tactica before they were officially revealed, has shared a thread of new leaks for Persona 6 that give us a good idea of how the project is shaping up.

The first thing that MbKKssTBhz5 claims is that the next game in the series is going to be rather different from the restbecause it’s being developed by a team that’s mostly new to the series. They also claim that the best description for Persona 6 is that it’s “P3RE and spin-offs come together”, as the team on Reload and the spin-offs are also working on the next big game.

That might ring alarm bells for some Persona fans, butMbKKssTBhz5 later clarified that they were referring to the presentation, which still sounds a bit confusing. According to them,Persona 6 is following a new development structure for Atlusthat started with Persona 3 Reload, and the spin-off art team is also working on the sixth entry.

One of the most interesting things to come from the leaks is thatPersona 6 is currently codenamed “Carbon”(which would make sense considering Carbon is the sixth element on the periodic table) and that, although MbKKssTBhz5 isn’t certain on exclusivity right now due to publisher deals, they’ve currently only seen it running on a PS5, which could suggest that it’s not coming to other consoles. This seems somewhat unlikely considering the expanded relationship between Atlus and Microsoft as of late, but we’ve certainly seen weirder decisions made.

Although the question of exclusivity remains, if these leaks are true it does seem that Atlus has a clear release goal in mind for Persona 6.MbKKssTBhz5 claims that they don’t think the game is too far offsince Atlus has a release window in mind and that it’s going to be officially announcedalongside another spin-off at some point next year.
