Sonycould have more remasters of its older games on the way, as one of its studios says it’s increasingly focusing on improving previous releases.
This comes from Nixxes Software, a studio acquired byPlayStationin 2021, having worked on some of the best-receivedPCports of its console exclusives. In a new YouTube video, the team says it is, “working more and more in creating remasters”, suggesting we can expect to see older PlayStation games ported over toPS5with improvements.

“What we provide for PlayStation Studios is high-quality PC ports,” says lead engineer, Coen Frauenfelder (spotted onResetEra). “[We’re] also working more and more in creating remasters.”
This is an interesting comment, as Nixxes hasn’t been known for its remasters in recent years. Right now, its main focus has been PC ports ofPS4and PS5 exclusives, at a much higher quality than some of the other releases. Most recently, it has ported,Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition,Spider-Man Remastered,Spider-Man Miles Morales, andRatchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Its built up a reputation among fans as one of the most reliable studios to work on PC ports, particularly after some missed like The Last of Us Part One, and even multi-console releases such as Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
It’s not clear what remaster Nixxes could be referring to, but fans have their theories. Many are hoping that the team is on the long-rumoured Bloodborne remaster, with the game currently stuck on PS4 - never even getting a PC port. A remastered version of the game, making most of PS5 capabilities, would go down great on PC especially, with a whole lot of FromSoftware fans without a console never having played it.
The video itself doesn’t give us any clues on what the team is working on, but at least we know that Sony has remasters on its mind. It also seems to be putting one of its most reliable studios on the project, so this is enough to get fans excited.
Of course, it could be a much larger undertaking for Nixxes, taking longer than its usual PC ports. With this in mind, we’re not likely to find out what it’s cooking anytime soon. It only just released the PC port of Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and showcase season has come and gone. That being said, we still have The Game Awards later in the year, and that certainly wouldn’t be a bad stage to announce a huge remaster project. We’ll just have to wait and see which game gets selected for the re-release.
