We took a look back at this classic set to see what the biggest movers and shakers have been since we last visited this set and made sure everything is up-to-date. We added a few cards too, with Marill, Fuecoco, and Maushold jumping up in value since then.

The Special Art Rare Boss’s Orders From Paldea Evolved in the Pokemon TCG.

16Dendra (Special Illustration Rare) – $10.98

Barely Hanging On

If you’re running out of cards in your hand and have a spare one you’d like to get rid of after playing this Support Trainer card, you can throw it down and draw a whole hand. It comes in pretty handy during competitive play.

Beyond the obvious advantage its effect grants you, the card’s art is pretty aesthetic itself, and the rarity makes it worthy of collecting and keeping in your deck.

The Special Art Rare Grusha From Paldea Evolved in the Pokemon TCG.

15Boss’s Orders (Special Illustration Rare) – $15.18

Plotting For The Future

A decent Supporter card with some rather aesthetic artwork that features an ability capable of punishing your opponents when they try to rely on using an attacker with considerable damage stats. It’s one of thebest Trainer cardsto get re-released.

It forces your opponent to expend energy into retreating a Pokemon from their active spot and can leave your rivals feeling rather salty by the end of your turn. The card itself barely has any other counter to its effect. You can use this Trainer card to finish attacking the Pokemon you’ve been dealing damage to before.

The Ultra Rare iono From Paldea Evolved in the Pokemon TCG.

14Grusha (Special Illustration Rare) – $15.39

Falling Like Snow

Grusha is a fairly viable Support card when it comes down to it, since there are a lot of chances you’ll end up facing an opponent with no energy cards to deliver any gruesome attacks. That’s where the card’s effect kicks in, you get to draw seven cards from your deck, and that opens up chances for you to mount up a decent counter.

The card itself features some stunning artwork, and the high playability amplifies its worth. you’re able to use it to get out of a sticky situation.

The Paldea Evolved Sprigatito Illustration Rare from the Pokemon TCG

13Iono (Ultra Rare) – $21.04

The First Of A Pair

With some exceptional line art, a cute magneton hat, and an oversized yellow pull-over, Iono’s captivated the minds of most Pokemon trainers around the globe, and her charm landed her two rather expensive cards that are surprisingly hard to pull.

This Ultra Rare Iono may be a little dull in comparison to her Special Art Rare counterpart, but the card’s managed to rack up quite a fair amount of worth for itself despite the lackluster effect.

The Special Art Rare Chien-Pao ex From Paldea Evolved in the Pokemon TCG.

12Sprigatito (Illustration Rare) – $21.33

Small And Mighty

As the first form of Meowscarada, Sprigatito gets plenty of attention in the main series games as a necessary prerequisite to the beloved final evolution. However, this cute kitten doesn’t need a boost, as it surpasses Meowscarada’s value on the back of an incredibly cute illustration of it nestled among flowers.

This card had a difficult journey to reach this point, sitting around $12 for a time before dropping into the single digits. Its eventual rally to the current market price represents incredible momentum for this card, as it looks destined to maintain and increase in value as time goes on.

The Special Art Rare Meowscarada ex From Paldea Evolved in the Pokemon TCG.

11Chien-Pao ex (Illustration Rare) – $21.35

A Swirling Blizzard

This dangerous cat with ice powers and a couple of daggers for teeth is perfect for a water deck. The main ability lets you siphon some of theWater energy you have attached to your other Pokemon in exchange for a devastating attack.

Are you running out of energy to attack with this card? Just use Shivery Chill and equip a couple of Water energy cards from your deck to your hand in exchange for shuffling the entire thing by the end of it.

The Paldea Evolved Chi-Yu ex Special Illustration Rare from the Pokemon TCG.

10Meowscarada ex (Special Illustration Rare) – $21.43

Waiting To Rise

Meowscarada ex is a great Grass-type Pokemon that can nerf your opponent’s team despite having members on the bench for the cost of one single Grass energy card. You can also follow up your attack with its secondary ability Scratching Nails, and deal a fatal blow to your opponent’s Pokemon.

The card features some stunning artwork, and thankfully the retreat cost isn’t too high either. It also helps that it boasts a good amount of HP.

The Pokemon TCG card Fuecoco by Kantaro.

9Chi-Yu ex (Special Illustration Rare) – $25.47

Stoking The Embers

Chi-Yu offers another stunning scene that blends shading with piercing light to create one of the most gorgeous cards in Paldea Evolved. This member of the Ruinous Quartet stands out as the smallest, but arguably one of the mightiest, as this Pokemon made a name for itself in the mainline game.

However, similar to Chi-Yu’s meteoric rise and fall in the VGC, this cardonce soared from $11 to almost $45 in mid-2024before cooling off. While Chi-Yu doesn’t seem to be in danger of falling below $20, that plateau is a key mark that will likely be the base from which it rises and falls in the future.

The Paldea Evolved Tinkaton ex Special Illustration Rare from the Pokemon TCG.

8Fuecoco (Illustration Rare) - $27.46

Shopping Trip!

Look at this little cutie, apple in their hands and tucked away into their oversized backpack for safety. The illustration rare Fuecoco is an absolute delight to look at, being the exact type of card that collectors will fawn over. The illustration from kantaro is filled to the brim with all the charm you could possibly pack into the card.

Illustration rare cards are the perfect place to have these world-building type artworks, with the expanded artwork giving illustrators more room to explore and show off the world of Pokemon. While the attacks on this Fuecoco are nothing to write home about, that’s not why you’re hunting this card down, it’s about having your own little shopping buddy.

7Tinkaton ex (Special Illustration Rare) – $30.99

Rising The Ranks

Tinkaton is one of the best new Pokemon from Paldea, featuring an unusual design that combines cuteness and strength. This pink Pokemon walks softly but carries a massive hammer around in one of the most playful designs we’ve seen from any Pokemon in the last few generations.

Tinkaton has been bouncing around in value since 2023,primarily floating around the $15 to $16 mark, though momentum is carrying this card out of its usual range, as it approaches $20. However, most massive value increases are followed by a pullback, so be cautious when buying during the hype.
