Pokemon UniteStandard and Ranked matches give you ten minutes to out-farm, out-score, and out-play your opponents. While each game will unfold differently due to team composition and playstyle differences, there is a consistent framework that you must master to come out on top.

Every Pokemon Unite match features a set of wild Pokemon that will grant you experience when you defeat them, allowing you to level up. Each team receives identical spawns on their respective sides but must battle to claim shared wild spawns in the central portion of the map. The winners of these engagements and subsequent team fights will have the advantage in the all-important Rayquaza fight.

What Are Rotations?

Rotations refer to thespecific order in which you attack and KO the wild Pokemonthat spawn at various points throughout the map. In Pokemon Unite, you must use your ten minutes efficiently, or you will quickly fall behind in levels.

Knowingwhere every Pokemon spawns and whenis the most important factor to your success. Once you master these spawns, you can focus on adjusting to the specific actions of the opposing team.

Early Game: How To Level Up

The early game is easily the most consistent phase of the match. You will have to attack the initial batch of Pokemon that appear outside your team’s base to gain experience and access your moves.

It’s essential that your team splits off appropriately. Two of you should go to top and bottom lanes respectively, with the fifth Pokemon filling the Jungler role.

Top & Bottom Lanes

Each lane duo receives a set of Bunnelbyto attack while on your way to meet your opponents. They are spread out along the lanein a 1-1-2 formation.

Once you finish clearing these Pokemon, you should immediately contest the Indeedee that spawns at 9:45to steal this experience bump away from your opposing laners.

From here, you or your foes may want to dunk on each opposing goalif you are running stacking items. Adjust appropriately anddo not overextend.

After this, pivot to the Baltoy that spawned at 9:45 and 9:40, then clean up the Bunnelby close to your goal.

After determining your objective, you havetwo options: eitherengage the Baltoythat has emerged at the back of the lane orposition yourself for the cluster of Altaria and Swabluin the center of the lane.

Positioning yourself for the Altaria cluster is the smartest bet, butcertain early-gameheavy hitters, like Glaceonand Espeon, can secure the Baltoywith time to spare before Altaria.

Jungle

Junglers have a much simpler early-game experience, asthe first minute or so will only involve defeating wild Pokemon.

Defeat theXatu in the center first, then move to one of the two Baltoy, then either Accelgor or Escavalier, whichever is closest to the Baltoy you chose first.

This should put you at around the 9:00 mark of the game, and from here, you must coordinate with your teammates to help the laners, if necessary.

If one of your lanes needs help repelling foes, do what you must to assist, thenreturn to your Jungle by 8:00 at the latest, so you can contest the Altaria spawn in the central shared Jungle.

Mid-Game: When To Rotate

The mid-game is far more flexible than the rigid requirements of the early-game level farming. Unfortunately, this also meansthere are fewer hard-and-fast rotation rules, so stay flexible to respond to any pressing threats.

As the timer approaches 7:30, you will notice a 30-second countdown at the top and bottom. At the end of this countdown,Regieleki will spawn on the top lane, while one of three Regis (Regice, Registeel, Regirock) will spawn on the bottom.

If your team wants to take the bottom objective, one person should rotate from the top lane to join the bottom laners.

One person, ideally the better solo-sustaining Pokemon, shouldstay in top lane to repel a possible Regieleki attackfrom your opponents.

If you are taking Regieleki, then your entire team can push the top laneto guarantee you break your opponent’s goal.

Pushing five on top is best used when the bottom lane is being completely lost. This allows you to counteract the foe’s scoring and pull closer to even.

After the objectives have been cleared, the game should open up completely, allowing you to improvise and efficiently farm using your knowledge of spawn times.

Junglers shouldfollow the team’s choice of objective and attack the Regithat they are committing to attack.

While rotating to the objective, try to gain vision on the opposing team and possibly catch one of their Pokemon out of positionfor a quick kill.

After the objective(s) has been secured, stay close to your squad for any team fights that break out.You should be at a higher level than other Pokemon if you have farmed properlyup to this point, so use your advantage.

Being at a higher level also meansthe experience your foe earns from defeating you is higher. Be careful not to throw away your life.

Late-Game: How To Prioritize

As the late-game approaches, unless they were never defeated or defeated after the 5:00 mark, there will usually be one more round of Regi spawns.

Depending on the particular time you and your team defeat the first round of Regis, their spawns will be close to the 2:00 mark when Rayquaza spawns.

By now, the four laners and Jungler are no longer playing separately, instead rotating together to engage in team fights and farm experience, depending on the spawn locations.

As goal circles are broken, theAltaria spawns shift toward the side losing their lane, so be aware of these experience sources.

From 3:00 to 2:00, you and your team should finish defeating all wild spawns on your side of the map, provided you are not engaged in a team fight.

If both Regis spawn with adequate time to defeat onebefore Rayquaza, then you should react as follows.

Never use your Unite move between 3:00 and 2:00unless there is a clear opportunity to defeat the entire enemy team. Even so,it’s usually better to save it until Rayquaza spawns.

Once Rayquaza spawns, it’s time to put your skills into action and make good use of all the experience you earned from efficiently rotating throughout the match.
