The Walking Dead was, retroactively the first Universes Beyond set of cards inMagic: The Gathering. These cards are separate from Magic: The Gathering lore, and are instead cards based on other franchises such as Lord Of The Rings, Doctor Who, or, in this case, AMC’s The Walking Dead show.

The Walking Dead set of cards was originally released as a part of a timed-exclusive Secret Lair, and remained the only way to get them until Wilds Of Eldraine almost three years later, where they were reprinted with in-universe Magic characters in Magic settings. There are only six unique cards in the Walking Dead set each unique in their own way.
6Daryl, Hunter Of Walkers
The title of weakest of the lot belongs to Daryl, Hunter Of Walkers. It gives your opponent three 2/2 Zombie tokens at the start of your upkeep, and, as such, your opponents are always creating more creatures than you generally can handle.
Daryl’s effect can destroy one of the Walker tokens and draw you a card, but that only handles one of the three that it makes. It requires you to build around being able to constantly destroy all the Walker tokens that Daryl generates, and is often not worth the hassle.
To make matters worse, there are not many ways to deal with creatures inDaryl’s Gruul (red/green) colorsoutside of fight and burn spells. This makes you almost required to include other colors if you even want a chance of not getting overrun by Walker tokens.
5Michonne, Ruthless Survivor
Michonne, Ruthless Survivor is an excellent choice as a Golgari (black/green) card to equip with Equipment. It enters the battlefield with two Walker tokens that allow you to easily take advantage of its effect to give it indestructible until the end of the turn.
If you have ways to blink it, you can flood the battlefield with Walker tokens. This requires outside help outside of Michonne’s native Golgari colors, but is worth the effort when you can turn three creatures into five.

There are plenty of strong Equipment you’re able to put on Michonne to ensure it will win any combat. It forces an opponent to block it if they are able to, and so, with the right kind of Equipment to give it abilities like first strike and deathtouch, it makes every swing into a massive threat.
you may even include Auras into the mix to give Michonne, Ruthless Survivor even better stats to keep it even more protected.
4Glenn, The Voice Of Calm
Glenn, The Voice Of Calm has a clear game plan - attack and draw a lot of cards. Since Glenn only has one power and skulk, it can only be blocked by creatures with one or less power, which often allows you to cards when you connect to an opponent.
Glenn draws cards equal to the power it had when it dealt damage. This means you can usepump spells to boost its statsafter the opponent declares blockers, so that you can ensure you get in for damage and draw a plethora of cards.
White has a giant selection of cards that can accomplish boosting up power at instant speed, which allows you to pump Glen after your opponent’s declared their flimsy small blockers (or none at all), but before the damage actually goes through.
3Lucille
A very powerful artifact, Lucille turnsany creature it’s equipped to into a massive threat. It does cost four mana to Equip, which is a bit of a hefty cost, but there are ways to cheat around this cost with cards like Sigarda’s Aid. On attack, it forces an opponent to sacrifice a creature, and if they do, you get a 2/2 Zombie token for your trouble.

Lucille only costs two mana, which allows it to hit the battlefield early. The stat boost is solid as well, as is the menace it gives. If an opponent is low on creatures, Lucille makes it so that they hardly have any sticking around as you constantly force them to be sacrificed. When this is combined with other forced sacrifices, this can lead to you wiping an entire battlefield of creatures while only advancing your own board state.
2Negan, The Cold-Blooded
Negan, The Cold-Blooded is a fantastic Mardu (red/white/black) control card. When it enters, you and an opponentchoose a creature that has to be sacrificed. This can lead to mind games to make them sacrifice a creature they would want to keep, since they assume you want to get rid of their best one, while forcing them to also sacrifice a different one.
Negan creates a Treasure token whenever an opponent sacrifices a creature. There is no shortage of cards that force sacrifice available in Mardu colors, including ones that sacrifice the entire battlefield. The Treasure tokens you make from Negan can get out of hand very quickly. In Commander, these Treasure can be used to re-cast Negan from your command zone, easily paying for the commander tax should it ever get removed.
1Rick, Steadfast Leader
The only card of the Walking Dead Secret Lair cards that saw continued Legacy success, Rick, Steadfast Leader is the best card from the lot. It is a phenomenal card fordecks that utilize the Human creature type.
It allows you to give them all two of either first strike, vigilance, and lifelink. If you have at least four Humans (including Rick itself) all of them get a stat boost of +2/+2 which when you have a giant battlefield of Humans gets out of control very quickly.
There are a giant amount of Human support cards (and it is the type with the highest number of cards by a large margin). This allows them all to take advantage of Rick, Steadfast Leader’s effect to make them all threatening. By giving them +2/+2 and lifelink and vigilance, they all become a source of fantastic life gain, to ensure you’re not going to be taken out of the game quickly.
