Alan Wake 2is currently on track to launch this October, just a few days beforeMarvel’s Spider-Man 2arrives. With the upcoming fall season already packed with highly anticipated games like Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Lords of the Fallen, some players might worry about possible delays. However, it appears thatRemedyisn’t bothered with October’s busy schedule, as the developers believe that Alan Wake 2 will find its own audience.

We already have at least four potential hits arrivingwithin a span of just eight daysthis October, not to mention the possibility of additional games being added to the lineup in the future. Given the current crowded schedule, it would be reasonable to anticipate delays for some of these titles, but it appears that Alan Wake 2 is not among them.

Speaking toVGCrecently, Kyle Rowley, co-director of Alan Wake 2, expressed Remedy’s strong confidence inits “biggest project yet.” According to the developer, when announcing Alan Wake 2’s release date, the studio was already aware that both Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Spider-Man 2 would also be launching this fall. Despite the presence of these major releases, Remedy expects to stand out. “No matter when you release a game, there could always be something else that’s coming out, you just can’t worry about it too much,” he said.

Rowley emphasized that Alan Wake 2 and Spider-Man 2 occupy different genres, with one being an adventure game and the other a survival horror game, thus targeting different audiences. “Whether [players] buy Alan Wake 2 or Spider-Man 2 isn’t really what we’re thinking about,” Rowley said. “We feel that we’re proud of the game that we built.” Ultimately, Remedy just wants to put forward their game and present it to the players who resonate with that kind of experience.

Another ace up their sleeve that could appeal to many PC players is Alan Wake 2’s visuals. Remedy previously stated thatit’ll have “the best looking game in 2023,” which is undoubtedly a bold claim considering the number of visually impressive games that have already been released this year. Still, judging by what we’ve seen of Alan Wake 2 so far, the upcoming sequel is shaping up to be visually stunning, which could be a major draw for graphics enthusiasts. Hopefully, Remedy’s first venture into the survival horror genre will offer more than just remarkable visuals.

One pitfall that Alan Wake 2 has run into already is thatit’s digital onlywhich is a problem for preservation. If any of these stores go down, as the Wii U and 3DS ones did, then Alan Wake 2 won’t be accessible to newcomers. Whether Remedy will change its tune remains to be seen.
