One of the more perilous armor sets to get inThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomis undoubtedly the Royal Guard armor set. The armor itself isn’t particularly strong, but itisextremely well-guarded – inside Hyrule Castle, which is floating and covered in gloom. We won’t judge you if you save this armor set for the endgame.

While you’ll do your share of exploring Hyrule Castle in Tears of the Kingdom, the Royal Guard armor set is pretty easy to miss along the way. We’ve pinned down the locations of the Royal Guard armor set for you below.
This guide contains some slight spoilers for later portions of Tears of the Kingdom.
Where To Get The Royal Guard Cap
The first piece of the Royal Guard armor, theRoyal Guard Cap, is in a well-hidden chest inPrincess Zelda’s RoominHyrule Castle.
The easiest way there is from theSanctum, the large, open main room of Hyrule Castle.
If you haven’t already unlockedSerutabomac Shrinearound theback side of the castle, grab it for easier warping between key points in the Castle - for this guide, and for late-game parts of Tears of the Kingdom.
When you get inside the Sanctum, from themain doorhighlighted in yellow on your map, you’re looking for anopen window along the Western wallof the Sanctum.
When youclimb out the windowand onto the ledge here, you’ll seeZelda’s Studyin the tower just across from you. You canhead over thereif you want, but the room you’re looking for isjust below you on the ledgeoutside the window.
If you do go over to Zelda’s Study, beware thatthe rock bridge crumbleswhen you step on it, potentially sending you quite a way back if you fall.
Enter Princess Zelda’s Roomthrough the open window, andturn leftwhen you enter. You’ll see adressing screenon the left side of the room, andbehind itis the treasure chest containing the Royal Guard’s Cap.
Where To Get The Royal Guard Uniform
TheRoyal Guard Uniformis locatedbeneath the First Gatehousein Hyrule Castle. It’s anopening in the Southwest side of Hyrule Castle, flanked by a few trees on either side.
When you go through the entryway here, you’ll seetwo locked gatesahead keeping you from entering, but don’t worry - you haveUltrahand.
Raise the gate with Ultrahand, and keep it active as you walk beneath to allow yourself passage. Do the same to the second gate, and you’re inside theFirst Gatehouse.
Goup the stairsjust past the gates, then take yournext two leftsto thestaircasethat leads you down into the gloom-coveredGuard’s Chamber.
The treasure chest is on araised wooden platformin the back section of this room, which you’ll likely see from the stairs as you descend.
If youhave enough hearts, you cansprint through the gloomhere and useAscend below the platformto get up there, or you can choose the safer but longer route ofclimbing the walland usingwooden boards as a bridgeif you’d like to mess with Ultrahand again.
Either way,get up to the treasure chest, and the Royal Guard Uniform is waiting for you inside.
Where To Get The Royal Guard Boots
The final piece of the Royal Guard armor set is waiting for you in theKing’s Study, which ishidden within the Libraryin the Castle.
Coming fromSerutabomac Shrineat the back side of the castle is the easiest way in, so warp there and enter thedoorway with the staircasejust past the shrine at the back of Hyrule Castle.
The King has concealed his secret roombehind one of the bookcases in the library, and you’ll immediately notice that some of the shelves area slightly different colorthan the rest.
Drop into the Libraryfrom the ledge you were standing on when you entered from the shrine, andturn around. The bookcase you need isright behind youwhen you land, somove it with Ultrahandand open the chest in the room for theRoyal Guard Boots.
