With that being said, some of these hidden areas are more special than others, and seeing the word “Discovery!” is always more exciting depending on where you’ve ended up. Here are 9 hidden locations in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Updated on Jul 15, 2025 by Erin McKendrick:Since its launch in May 2023, players have been finding more adventures in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. With all this extra time, players have discovered more hidden locations in this massive open world. Whether they’re above-ground at a secret water source or somewhere in the deepest crevices of the Depths, there’s always more exploring to do. These areas aren’t related to the main story, so finding them is often completely coincidental. The Depths are practically full of hidden locations just waiting to be stumbled upon, and the surface holds its own trove of secret spots. Some may be hidden in plain sight, while others require a thorough search.
9Lake Saria
Lake Saria is one of the few places to obtain theForest Dweller’s Bowin Tears of the Kingdom. However, finding Lake Saria is easier said than done. The easiest way to locate it is by traveling to Ninji’s Shrine. Once there, you’ll spend some time following theSilent Shroom, possibly getting lost along the way.
Eventually, you’ll notice a large tree situated on a small island. A short dock will get you a quarter of the way there, but you’ll need to swim a small distance to reach the tree and the chest inside.
8Blupee Burrow
The Depths are filled with hidden locations on account of the darkness. However, one unique area of the Depths hassomenatural lighting. Blupee Burrow is a hidden location in the Hyrule Ridge Depths. The area is home to several Blupees, hence the name of the location.
Though Blupee Burrow is already secluded, the Blupees find additional places to hide in small caves. The small glowing bunnies carry a trove of Rupees, so be sure to take advantage of their presence by shooting them with arrows. There’s also a Sartori cherry blossom tree, which is often overlooked since it isn’t on the surface.
7Lake Hylia Whirlpool Cave
Normally, you’d want to avoid a giant whirlpool, but in this case, you’ll want to dive in head first.Underneath Lake Hylia, you’ll find the En-oma Shrine. Once activated, a light beam will protrude into the sky, meaning you’ll need to go above, rather than below.
If you follow the beam, you’ll find yourself at the Faron Sky Archipelago. You can also begin at the Faron Sky Archipelago instead of starting in the water. Regardless of your choice, you’ll hit two hidden locations in one quest. Luckily, the other shrines don’t usually require this much traveling.
6Temple Of Time Ruins
In Breath of the Wild, the Temple of Time was one of the first locations you visited, but the temple is much less prominent in Tears of the Kingdom. This is because the Temple of Time is now in the sky rather than on the ground. The original Temple of Time pales in comparison to the newer temple in the sky.
The Temple of Time in the sky stands tall over everything else in the area and seems to be in relatively good condition. On the ground, the temple is abandoned, falling apart, and doesn’t play a role in the plot. However, those who did find and explore the temple noted a special easter egg located in a chest. There, you may find the fabric used for your paraglider in the previous game.
5The Golden Horse
The Lucky Clover Gazette will offer a quest to investigate potential Princess Zelda sightings. While on this quest, you can travel to the Snowfield Stable, a snowy area with a special guest. Penn will be speaking to a person at the stable who mentions a missing golden horse.
From here, you must travel north towards the North Tabantha Snowfield. A golden horse will be standing in a snowy clearing, just waiting to be tamed. It’s not easy to tame the horse, but the rewards you reap are well worth the trouble. Once you return to the stable, you’ll be gifted a Royal Bridle and Royal Saddle. You can then register the horse at the stable, where you’ll notice it has four stars in strength and speed, three in stamina, and two in pull.
4Gerudo Jail
When you enter the shelter in Gerudo town, you may overhear conversations about another man, or “voe,” who’s been imprisoned. Voe are forbidden from entering Gerudo town.
However, Link’s entry is a unique exception due to his help in the previous game. When inside, you may notice a Gerudo warriorguarding the door to a cell imprisoning a Hylian. Though you can enter the jail if you commit a crime, like walking around without a shirt or dressing as a Yiga Clan member, there’s no obvious entry beyond the guarded door. There’s a quest you can start that’ll lead you inside, and even lead to the following hidden location.
3Lon Lon Ranch
There are multiple references to previous games in Tears of the Kingdom, one of which is an Easter egg of a location inOcarina of Time. Lon Lon Ranch, a dairy farm, still exists in the open world. It’s practically hidden in plain sight. You can find the remnants of the ranch in Hyrule Field between Mabe Village Ruins, Mabe Prairie, and Ranch Ruins.
Unfortunately, the ranch is in ruins, and it’s likely that you walked right past the area without recognizing what it once was. Luckily, you’re able to still buy Lon Lon milk at different ingredient shops, so there’s still some remnant of this once-bustling ranch.
2Forest Coliseum
Remember the Yiga Clan? The banana-loving masked soldiers played a substantial role in Breath of the Wild, but they aren’t as prominent in Tears of the Kingdom. Nonetheless, they still make appearances in the game. There are a number of coliseums throughout the map, one of which is inhabited by the Yiga Clan.
The Forest Coliseum is hidden in the Great Hyrule Forest Depths. You can find the coliseum appropriately situated below the Great Hyrule Forest. Once you enter, the Yiga Clan will trap you inside and introduce themselves. You’re then forced to fight a large, monstrous Black Hinox who offers plenty of loot once defeated.
1Eventide Island
Just like in the previous game, Eventide Island is a lone island in the Necluda Sea, off the coast of Cape Kales in Southeast Necluda. The easiest way to get here is by fast traveling to the Muwo Jeem Shrine or the Rabella Wetlands Skyview Tower.
Because you can’t swim across, you’ll have to construct a vehicle with a Zonai device like a paraglider or boat, so you can fly or sail there. Once you’re actually on the island, you’ll be tasked with destroying three monster forts, which will eventually lead you to the Marari-In Shrine.
