Becoming a vampirewill complicate yourSkyrimplaythrough in a lot of ways. For one thing, you become much more vulnerable to sunlight and fire. You’ll grow pale and your eyes will change colour, too, making other NPCs hostile. Admittedly, you do gain some benefits too, like a resistance to frost and the ability to cast unique magic.

Some players adore the challenge that a vampire playthrough of Skyrim can provide! If you want to improve your own vampiric experience, lots of fans have taken it upon themselves to adjust the game through mods. Here, we’ll detail the best that are currently available!
6Unique Vampire Dens
The creator of this mod decided to make it because they weredisappointed with how vampires were expected to feedin Skyrim, even with the addition of Dawnguard; you basically have to sneak around in people’s houses while they’re asleep. “While this isn’t terribly difficult,” they say in the description, “it also isn’t terribly interesting. I felt like Vampires should have some ‘place’ in the world, beyond just Castle Volkihar.A hideoutwhere they’ve stashed some thralls, and stored some coffins to rest in comfort in the major cities.”
The Unique Vampire Dens mod adds exactly that! Once installed, every major city will be equipped with a vampire denthat hosts some storage, coffins for sleeping in, and some people to feed on. You’re sure to feel right at home here alongside your vampire kin.

5Sacrosanct - Vampires of Skyrim
Sacrosanct is acomplete overhaul of the mechanics for vampires in Skyrimand the Dawnguard DLC that aims to provide a more in-depth and realistic vampire experience. There are dozens of changes and alterations to be excited about, but the focus is on how often you feed on victims. You’ll slowly get weaker and weaker, progressing through a few detailed stages before reaching the most desperate: Blood Starved.
In addition, the mod adds anew kind of vampire-based magic: Hemomancy. The more victims you drain, the more Hemomancy spells you learn. You’ll also get a boost to all the Vampire Lord abilities earned through the Dawnguard DLC and a unique vampiric ability based on your race. For example, Argonian vampires are protected from the damaging effects of sunlight while they’re swimming.
Sacrosanct makes a lot of really critical changes to the vampire experience! We’ve hit the highlights here, but be sure to read the in-depth description detailing everything.
4Vampire Lines Expansion
If you’re a vampire in Skyrim, you’re probablyspending a lot of time around other vampires.Of course, you might be a loner, but if you do see other vampires a lot then you’ve probably heard the same voice lines over and over again. One creator got truly sick of this and created the Vampire Lines Expansion mod.

Itadds about 150 new voice lines to NPCs!It’s mostly for vampires, but it also gives some new lines to other relevant characters, like members of the Dawnguard and necromancers. As a bonus, you can optionally choose to bring back orc vampires. Did you know thatthere’s only one vampire orc in the entire game? They don’t naturally spawn as enemies almost anywhere because Bethesda didn’t add them to the spawning list. This creator lets you put orc vampires back in, so they can get the blood-crazed reputation that all vampires enjoy.
3Vampire Beasts
The Vampire Beasts mod adds brand-new enemies to the world of Skyrim. Itadds vampiric beasts from The Witcher seriesto ruins, caves, and other locations! There are seven in total: Garkains, Alpha Garkains, Fleders, Protofleders, Katakans, Elder Katakans, and Ekimmara. It also adds three new related ingredients: Vampire Beast Canines, Vampire Beast Blood, and Katakan Ears.
Of course, these enemies would be a great addition to the game whether or not you were playing a vampire playthrough. We just thoughtyou might feel a little less lonely with these guys around.
2Vampire Lords Can Activate
The Vampire Lord was added in the Dawnguard DLC as a special new formyou can take on once you’re initiated by siding with the vampires during that DLC’s story. It’s much like the werewolf form, for characters afflicted with that curse, andmastery of it is a pretty challenging achievement. It comes with a few limitations! The most annoying on is that you can’t really pick up things or activate anything as the Vampire Lord, because, like a werewolf, you’re expected to be running around on a rampage.
That’s where this mod comes in.Vampire Lords Can Activate allows you to pick up items and loot dead bodies, open doors and pick locks, and much more. Your big vampire hands might look pretty silly around the handle, but, by Mara, you’re going to get through that door.
1True Hybrid - Tainted Blood of the Dragonborn
In vanilla Skyrim, you may only be a vampireora werewolf, not both. If you’re already a werewolf while siding with the vampires during the Dawnguard DLC, you’re cured of your werewolf blood before being infected and becoming a vampire. A real bummer, right? Not anymore!
The True Hybrid mod allows you tobecome both a vampire and a werewolf at once! It’s relatively simple, since the abilities of the two don’t tend to intersect. However, for things that do clash (and even just some things you want to customize), there’s an options menu built-in.
It’s also confirmed to be compatible with the Sacrosanct mod detailed above!
