Sonic Frontiersappears to have been a pretty big success forSega, and the party’s not over yet. The latest Sonic gamewill be getting at least two more updates, the second of which will make more of its characters playable. However, if Frontiers has been successful enough to get a sequel, thenSonicfans want Shadow to be a part of it as a playable character.

FollowYourWaysposted a poll onthe Sonic Frontiers subreddit, asking fans who they would like to see star alongside the Blue Blur should Sega make a follow-up. Given five options, with well over a thousand votes cast so far, it’s not even close. Shadow is way out in front, pulling in roughly half of all the votes cast with 670 and counting. Make that 671, because I want to see Shadow in Sonic Frontiers 2 too.

Silver is in a distant second in the Frontiers sequel poll, Blaze takes bronze, and Sage, who was introduced to the Sonic universe in Frontiers, is currently in fourth. Bottom of the pile is Amy which might seem a little harsh, but she played a big part in the first Frontiers and will presumably be playable when update number three goes live later this year. So it’s understandable that most Sonic fans would want to use their vote on someone who didn’t feature in the newest Sonic game at all.

A few of you weren’t happy with the options provided and have suggested other characters in the replies. Making Tails a playable sidekick in Sonic Frontiers 2 has been suggested, but the same applies to him as Amy. Tails will be playable in Frontiers without the need for a whole new game before the end of 2023. Others have claimed they only picked Shadow because Knuckles wasn’t an option.

Shadow hasn’t been playable in a mainline Sonic game sinceSonic Forces, and even that was only via post-launch DLC. Outside of mobile, racing, and Mario & Sonic at the Olympics games, Shadow’s DLC inclusion in Forces marked the first time he’d been a playable character for almost a decade. It has been even longer since Shadow had a game all of his own, starring in Shadow the Hedgehog in 2005. It’s unlikely the brooding hedgehog will get a spin-off again, but it seems Sonic fans will be happy with him simply being playable in whatever comes next.
