It looks like theSpider-Mancommunity has finally moved on from that infamous image of Miles and Peter, as all anyone can talk about right now is Uncle Aaron’s awful beat fromSpider-Man: Miles Morales.
After months of begging Insomniac Games to release new Spider-Man 2 footage, you’d think that the Spider-Man community would be intently focusing on the next game in the series leading up to its October release. You couldn’t be further from the truth, however, as most of the discussions on the subreddit and across social media are to do with another big meme -Uncle Aaron’s awful beat.

For those who don’t remember, Spider-Man: Miles Morales had a branch of side-quests that had Miles exploring the city to try and find sound samples for his uncle, including noises like train tracks, whistles, and flocks of pigeons. Completing the quest and finding all of the samples results inAaron sending Miles a beat that he’s put together from them and it soundsawful.
I can’t believe that this has turned into a meme nearly three years after it was relevant, but I curse you all for making me listen to that “beat” again. It basically sounds like a Seinfeld scene transition, but if the music was played on bin lids, triangles, and church bells. Considering Aaron is supposed to be a cool guy with a taste for music, it’s a pretty embarrassing scene, especially when Miles seems so impressed with the outcome.
The awful beal came bursting back onto the Spider-Man scene after apopular tweet pointed out how bad Insomniac’s Prowler outfit for Miles (which you get from the sound sample missions) is, which led to the beat being shared around again. As you can imagine from a community that somehow made one static image of Peter and Miles standing around into a meme, Uncle Aaron’s awful beat has quickly become the talk of the web-slinging town.
Over on the Spider-Man subreddit, fans are absolutely roasting Aaron’s beats. Some are just pointing out how bad it is and reacting accordingly with comments like, “There’s no way uncle Aaron was in the studio and said yeah this fire” and “No wonder Uncle Aaron had to turn to a life of crime, no way in hell these beats was gon do shit for him”, while others are getting a little bit more creative.
Some of the best memes that I’ve seen so far take iconic Spider-Man scenes likeMiles' leap of faithand add Aaron’s sick beat into the mix. You haven’treallyexperienced Miles coming to terms with his new powers until you’ve heard the sound of a train clanging loudly over everything. At least it kind of fits with Peter fighting off Venom by using awful sounds.
