Star Wars Outlaws' creative director has revealed that each planet in the game will be roughly the size of two-to-three zones inAssassin’s Creed Odyssey.

Beyond being a Star Wars game fromUbisoft(something that hasn’t happened since Star Wars: Lethal Alliance), Outlaws is in quite a unique position thanks to it being the first-ever open-worldStar Warsgame. Considering how most space-faring games likeStarfieldandNo Man’s Skyhave put so much emphasis on massive near-limitless worlds to explore, there have been a lot of questions about how Outlaws' open world is going to work, something that we’ve thankfully got some answers for.

As pointed out by ResetEra user dex3108andhighlighted by MP1st,Star Wars Outlaws' creative director, Julian Gerighty,recently spoke to Edge magazinefollowing the game’s reveal at Xbox’s Summer Showcase. Gerighty revealed a number of interesting details about the game, but the highlight was the discussion about the size of the game’s planets, which gives us a much better idea of what Star Wars Outlaws is going for.

According to Gerighty, the size of one planet in the game could roughly be equivalent to around two or three zones in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Although it’s not specified what “zones” are, it seems likely that it means regions like Attika and Megaris, which are decent-sized areas in their own right, let alone if you double or triple them. This seems to indicate that, although Outlaws' worlds will be big, they won’t betoobig.

Speaking of planets, Gerighty also confirmed that each of them will be “hand-crafted” by the team at Ubisoft Massive,instead of the procedurally generated approach that has become required in games like Starfield. So far, we know about five of the planets in the game, including Tatooine, Toshara, Akiva, Kojimi, and Canto Bight, which certainly seems like enough if each of those is equivalent to two-to-three zones in Odyssey. Those are just the planets that have been confirmed, too, so there’s likely even more to the game than we know.

Outside of the size of planets, Gerighty also confirmed that players won’t have “total free rein” over space travel, meaning that they won’t be able to fly around freely above the planet or land and take off wherever they want. The reputation system was also detailed, confirming that some quests, vendor prices, and locked-off areas can be explored and access depending on what kind of reputation the player has, with some factions even sending people to hunt you down if you’re not in their good books.
