The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomhas some subtle hints that Zelda and Link are in some kind of relationship, with the biggest implication being that they live together at Link’s house in Hateno Village.
One of the most unspoken storylines in the history of The Legend of Zelda is whether or not Link and Zelda are canonically in a relationship, or if they just have a platonic friendship. It’s never really explicitly said and only hinted at throughout the various games, butBreath of the WildandSkyward Swordsure tipped the scales more towards it being romantic instead of being a friendship.

Because of that, a lot of Zelda fans were hoping to see some kind of official confirmation within Tears of the Kingdom that the two have a romantic relationship. Well, there’s some good and bad news for you - although it’s notexplicitlystated at any point in the game, there are a number of hints towards it that make it pretty clear that Link and Zelda are closer than just friends.
The most concrete hints can be found at Link’s house in Hateno Village, the one you were able to buy and build up in Breath of the Wild. Interestingly, though, it’s not actually called Link’s house anymore - it’s now said to belong to Zelda, both by the villagers outside the house and by Zelda herself in a diary entry, as she refers to it as “my house”.
The diary also mentions that she had Bolson add a room to control the humidity of the house. Going into that room shows another sign that Link’s been hanging around - his blue hair tie from Breath of the Wild can be found in there. This either shows that Zelda’s keeping bits of Link’s clothes hanging around, or perhaps that he also lives there and is just a little messy.
Another of Zelda’s diaries also has an interesting implication. In it, she mentions that Link always goes with her to help others (which is in line with his role as a protector) and that it’s ruined his tunic. Zelda says that she’s hidden it in the throne room to gift to him later which, as pointed out by Redditor RedRabbit1818, suggests that she can’t hide it around the house as he’s also living there and would likely find it.
There are several details around the house that follow this theory. For one, Zelda’s dining table is set for two people, likely her and Link. The other is that the bed upstairs has now been made a little bit bigger, suggesting that (oi oi) more than one person is staying in it. It’s also the only bed in Hateno Village that Link can sleep in, which makes some sense considering the house used to be his, but also suggests that’s what he’s already been doing.
Again, none of this is explicitly stated, which isn’t too surprising considering Nintendo has never really outwardly confirmed their relationship, but it’s enough to suggest that the two have a very different relationship than the one they’ve previously had, and are either incredibly close friends staying in the same house or are finally romantically together.
