The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomlooks set to become the most successfulZeldagame of all time. In just three weeks, it’s made its way into the top three best-selling Zelda games in the UK - and that’s without taking digital sales into account.

These figures come from the weekly update to the UK boxed figures chart, with Tears of the Kingdom safely maintaining its lead for the fourth week in a row. Even the release of another smash hit,Street Fighter 6, wasn’t enough to threaten its reign, showing that the latest bigSwitchrelease isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

As reported byGameIndustry.biz, these week’s figures mean that Tears of the Kingdom has outsold Nintendo 64’s Ocarina of Time release in physical sales alone. Now, it sits behind Breath of the Wild and Twilight Princess for the top spots - although the former is still offering some strong competition.

Despite launching more than six years ago, Breath of the Wild is on the sales charts yet again. Perhaps due to some fans needing to catch up before they get stuck into Tears of the Kingdom, Breath of the Wild is still in seventh place on the boxed charts, helping it maintain its lead over Tears of the Kingdom and Twilight Princess. This also puts Breath of the Wild just behind Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, showing that it can compete with other new releases too.

We’ll have to wait until the dust settles until we can get a clear idea of how Tears of the Kingdom is performing worldwide, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see it take the top spot overall. Right now, current UK stats aren’t taking digital purchases into account, and the lastinternational figurewe heard from Nintendo put sales at ten million. Now, almost three weeks since that figure was reported, that’s likely risen dramatically, especially in light of today’s news.

The only other Zelda games that have surpassed the ten million mark worldwide are Breath of the Wild, Ocarina of Time, Link’s Awakening, and Twilight Princess. Except for Breath of the Wild, they’re all very beatable for Tears of the Kingdom too, with the Ocarina of Time in second place at 14 million units sold, at least according to theVideo Game Sales wiki.

But in any case, it’s clear that BOTW and TOTK have the lead. With that in mind, don’t go expecting Nintendo to mix up this winning formula anytime soon. Series director Eiji Aonuma confirmed as much, saying thatthese two games will be the “new format” going forward.
