Among all the possible commanders available inMagic: The Gathering, the four-color commanders are some of the most versatile color combinations. Their unique commanders often highlight these relatively rare decks, with either a highly impactful single creature or a unique partner pairing.

The union of white, blue, red, and green cards brings together control cards as well as the potential for huge amounts of damage. If you’re looking to bring a unique group hug deck to your next game or perhaps some immensely powerful land-based strategies, these non-black commanders are the way to go.

5Akiri, Line-Slinger & Thrasios, Triton Hero

The unlikely pairing of Akiri, Line-Slinger and thecEDH powerhouse of Thrasios, Triton Herois first up for the four color commanders. Despite not having much synergy, these two partners, are all about bringing the best of their color combination.

Akiri, Line-Slinger is a low-cost commander that gains power the more artifacts you control. Akiri doesn’t care what type of artifacts you control so strategies that include generating tons of Treasure tokens work particularly well with cards like Dockside Extortionist and Professional Face-Breaker.

Thrasios, Triton Hero can filter all your Treasure tokens through its ability, which, for four mana, you can scry one and then reveal the top card of your deck. If it’s a land, it goes straight into play; otherwise, you draw that card. Toss in some token doublers like Anointed Procession or Mondrak, Glory Dominus, and you’ll have some easy mana to cast as many cards as you like.

4Elmar, Ulvenwald Informant & Hargilde, Kindly Runechanter

These two commanders both come from the Stranger Things Secret Lair Drop, and with their friends forever ability, can partner up to become a powerful four-color commander partnership. Conveniently, these two commanders synergize well together, creating Clue tokens and then generating mana to draw cards.

Elmar, Ulvenwald Informant, the Universes Within version of Max, the Daredevil, rewards you for casting multiple spells in a turn by untapping a creature and then investigating. Partner Elmar up with Harglide, Kindly Runechanter, which is the Universes Within take on Dustin, Gadget Genius, and you can tap it to add two colorless mana which can only be spent on artifact spells and abilities to put those Clues to work.

The key to this deck is going to be other cards that can turn your Clues into other cards. Playing Lonis, Cryptozoologist can let you sacrifice your Clues to start stealing spells from your opponent’s library. Meanwhile, if you include Academy Manufactor, each Clue also enters with a Treasure and Food token too.

3Bruse Tarl, Boorish Herder & Thrasios, Triton Hero

Thrasios, Triton Hero is back but this time they’re with Bruse Tarl, Boorish Herder to mess up your opponent’s day. Unfortunately for poor Bruse, the Ox herder is mostly there for access to red and white mana.

A common approach to this duo is to actually just use Bruse Tarl ascannon fodder for pod effects into better creatures. Specifically, you want to trade Bruse Tarl in for a Seedborn Muse to help accelerate your mana generation to activate Thrasios’ ability as often as possible.

For a bit of extra power and a unique challenge to your deck building, you could add Zirda, the Dawnwaker as a companion to your deck. It requires every creature in your deck to have an activated ability but in return, it reduces the cost of your activated abilities by two generic mana. With Zirda, you’ll be able to activate Thrasios’ ability for just two mana instead of four.

2Kynaios And Tiro Of Meletis

As the ultimate group hug commander, Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis gives all players in your game a bit of a boost before helping you take over the board. For just one of each mana (except black of course), Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis lets you draw a card during your end step. Then, all players can put a land from their hand into play. If an opponent can’t, they draw a card instead.

You’ll want your usual package of group hug cards like Rites of Flourishing to give all players even more cards and extra land drops each turn, while Propaganda and Ghostly Prison are just two examples of enchantments that will keep you safe from your opponent’s accelerated board state.

Your opponents will love you throughout the early game but don’t be surprised if you don’t win very many games because of it. Since this style of deck is so dedicated to uplifting everyone, you’ll often find yourself at the mercy of their attacks or combos. A surefire way to put a target on yourself but to also guarantee a victory if your opponents can’t stop you in time is with Approach of the Second Sun, which automatically wins you the game if you cast it from your hand twice in a game.

1Omnath, Locus Of Creation

There is a lot going on with the four-color behemoth of Omnath, Locus of Creation. With one ofthe most powerful landfall abilities in Magic, Omnath turns your first three land drops into a wide range of bonuses.

The first land you play gives you four life, the second adds red, green, white, and blue mana, while the third land burns your opponents and their planeswalkers for four damage. you’re able to accrue tons of value each turn with Omnath out, but it does put a bit of a target on your back from players who don’t want to you pull too far ahead.
