The Lion King is one of those movies that most people point to as one of their top ten Disney movies in general, and it’s not hard to see why. With vibrant visuals, one of the best soundtracks in Disney’s history, and a compelling story, The Lion King is an instant classic.

This 1994 hit is a coming-of-age story for the young lion Simba in which, after being driven from his father’s kingdom, he must avenge his father by defeating his twisted uncle, Scar - remind anyone of Hamlet? With Elton John and Hanz Zimmer doing the music, this film was bound to be legendary.

9Mulan

People were a bit sad thatthe live-action remakedidn’t quite capture the same magic as the original, but with how good the original is, that was a tough thing to do. This Disney classic sees Mulan taking her father’s place in the army – to defeat – The Huns.

This fantastic story balances the classic musicality of animated Disney films with the thrilling action that would become more commonplace over the next few years. Ming-Na Wen and Eddie Murphy kill it as Mulan and Mushu, but you already know that.

8Fantasia

The classic Fantasia from 1940 may be unlike many of the other films Disney has ever produced, but it truly is a masterpiece. Instead of tales of princesses, princes, and foul monsters, Fantasia takes you through a journey of beautiful music and stellar animation.

This film is also the thing we all have to thank forthat classic Mickey Mouse adventurein which everything goes wrong as he fiddles around with magic. Anyone who hasn’t experienced this film should do themselves a favor and watch it as soon as possible.

7Beauty And The Beast

The brilliant Belle finds herself trapped in a castle with a prince-turned-beast, but that’s not all. The other residents of the castle were also transformed into different animated objects like cups and clocks.

This isn’t just a beautiful film for teaching everyone to drop their preconceived notions and shows that true beauty is what’s on the inside, this is a beautiful film because it has some of the best Disney songs of all time. Be Our Guest, A Tale As Old As Time, and Gaston are all legendary Disney tunes.

6Wreck-It Ralph

While it may not be the first Disney animated movie that comes to mind, it’s hard to say that Wreck-It Ralph isn’t filled with a charm that speaks to both modern and classic fans. With tons of fantastic easter eggs, it feels like Wreck-It Ralph is a love letter that was made to appeal to everyone.

Ralph decides to doa little bit of game-hopping, where he eventually meets the energetic and glitchy Vanellope. Ralph tries to understand that he can be more than what he was destined for while helping a glitch become a hero against an undercover villain.

5The Little Mermaid

While some people have hadmixed opinions on the live-action takeon The Little Mermaid, almost everyone agrees that the 1989 animated film is untouchable in terms of quality. Putting a Disney spin on the classic Hans Christian Andersen story, The Little Mermaid is a triumph.

Ariel longs to explore the world beyond her home, but once she does, she loses the ability to speak, and she is tasked with getting a kiss from her true love, Prince Eric. This is another Disney animated movie in which every song is a classic that people whistle long after they’ve seen the film.

4Tarzan

Who knows why it happened, but for whatever reason, Phil Collins went way harder with the soundtrack to Tarzan than he needed to. To this day, the soundtrack to Tarzan is listed as many people’s all-time favorite Disney soundtrack.

Tarzan is another classic story retold through the Disney lens in which a gorilla adopts a young infant who would later grow into the titular Tarzan. Explorers arrive to study gorillas, but Tarzan soon becomes the focus of their attention, something that isn’t good when the villainous Clayton is around.

3Moana

It’s not unusual for Disney animated movies to attract major stars to voice characters, but most people probably weren’t expecting The Rock to become a beloved character. Shifting to Polynesia, Moana was a surprising triumph that has already earned live-action adaptation discussions.

Released in 2016, Moana is centered around a young Polynesian girl on her quest to find Maui and eventually return a heart to the twisted Te Fiti. With plenty of humor and a true return to excellent Disney music, it’s not hard to see why everyone loves Moana.

This 2010 hit found a thrilling and heartfelt way to tell the classic story of Rapunzel in a new way. After being kept away from the world for most of her life, the rogueish thief Flynn Rider happens upon her and shows her that there’s much more to the world than she could have ever thought.

Unlike many other Disney films, this one isn’t as remembered for its music. Instead, this movie is remembered for its fantastic story and excellent performances from the likes of Zachary Levi and Mandy Moore.

Aladdin is one of the most legendary Disney films of all time for a variety of reasons. The entire cast is incredible, with Robin Williams as the biggest stand out for his career-definingperformance as Genie, and both the story and songs are now a thing of legend.

Following a street thief as he attempts to prove his worth to the strong-willed Princess Jasmine, the original Aladdin is still on people’s minds all the time. Whether it’s Prince Ali, Friend Like Me, One Jump Ahead, or A Whole New World, every song is a hit and instantly catchy.
