Flesh and Blood’s Blitz format seeks to shorten game lengths by shrinking health pools and deck sizes, offering quicker fights without sacrificing the ability to build decks strategically. These faster rounds permit the use of deck types deemed too short-term for Classic Constructed and enable a variety of approaches when building the same hero.

The best decks in Blitz tend to focus on dealing quick damage, forcing even defensive bastions to adapt in order to participate in damage races; despite this, most heroes remain distinct by keeping the way they access their damage unique. If you’re looking for a way to jump into the aggressive world of Blitz, the top decks are a solid starting point for learning to deckbuild.

10Iyslander - Control

Key Cards:Fyendal’s Spring Tunic, Frost Hex, Hypothermia, Ice Eternal, Channel Lake Frigid

Michael Hamilton’s take on Iyslanderhas become the standard for control decks in the tournament scene, all due to how effectively Iyslander disrupts opponents throughout a game. Though Hamilton’s deck style was originally built for Classic Constructed, it has been rebuilt with much success despite Blitz’s smaller decks.

Isylander, Fyendal’s Spring Tunic, Frost Hex, Hypothermia, Ice Eternal, and Channel Lake Frigid from Flesh and Blood

Wounded Bull might be the card that makes Hamilton’s original Iyslander deck pop, but lower health pools make the card more of a homage than a necessity– Iyslander has an excessive collection of cards that disrupt opponents without requiring you to focus on health management, working at her best when slinging debilitating frostbite tokens into a foe’s control.

9Prism - Control

Key Cards:Luminaris, Iris of Reality, Wartune Herald, Genesis, Herald of Erudition

Prism isthe best hero of her class in Blitz, so it’s only natural that a deck featuring her is quite powerful in the format. Auras are the name of the game if you want to outright crush an opponent, as Prism’s soul ability can be combined with weapons like Iris of Reality to create a field of easy-to-replace damage dealers.

Prism, Luminaris, Iris of Reality, Wartune Herald, Genesis, and Herald of Erudition from Flesh and Blood

Piotr Krzempek’s Prism won Battle Hardened San Josewith this tactic, utilizing cards such as Wartune Herald and Genesis to fill Prism’s soul and litter the arena with Spectral Shields. A few good illusions as support ensures that the deck is never lacking in power, both overwhelming combo decks and forcing critical blocks from hard-hitters.

8Bravo - Control

Key Cards:Anothos, Crippling Crush, Spinal Crush, Disable, Pummel

Very few cards can match the intensity of Bravo, Star of the Show, but young Bravo does a good job of being powerful without ruining game balance. Like his Showstopper variant in Classic Constructed, Bravo does his best work when he combines his dominate effect with crush, pushing opponents into fraught situations where they’re able to make very few meaningful choices.

Bravo, Anothos, Crippling Crush, Spinal Crush, Disable, Pummel from Flesh and Blood

Since so much strategy in Flesh and Blood revolves around block economy, the harsh punishments that Bravo forces his opponents to block become an invaluable tool for managing the pace of the game.Michael Metallo managed to win a tournament using this strategy, packing the deck tight with typical crush cards.

7Uzuri - Aggro

Key Cards:Isolate, Plunder the Poor, Death Touch, Command and Conquer, Shake Down

Uzuri has one of the more unique gimmicks in Flesh and Blood, so it’s nice to see thatshe works so well in a competitive environment. Though Uzuri could be built purely around her stealth mechanic, she works beautifully when you balance her effect with Assassin’s contract archetype.

Uzuri, Isolate, Plunder the Poor, Death Touch, COmmand and Conquer, and Shake Down from Flesh and Blood

Having stealth, contracts, and dagger-switching on the table enables Uzuri to attack from a multitude of angles, preventing you from getting shutdown by any one counter.Tyler Stammer’s winning Uzuri deckexemplifies this, striking fear into the hearts of opponents as they are forced to guess what’s around the corner.

6Oldhim - Control

Key Cards:Winter’s Wail, Pummel, Heart of Ice, Blizzard, Arcane Lantern

Oldhim remains one of the strongest Guardian heroes in Rathe, boasting defensive abilities that punish pushes from nearly every hero he faces. Cards like Heart of Ice work quite well with his built-in defense reaction, able to pillow a surprising amount of damage and even stifle crush cards when played correctly.

Malcom Song’s Oldhim combines his natural defense with a tight control game, using Guardian crush cards in tandem with traditional control options to become an optimal shutdown machine. Oldhim’s powerful Winter’s Wail is the finishing touch that gives him the means to strike back after an opponent’s failed push.

5Kano - Aggro

Key Cards:Waning Moon, Aether Quickening, Swell Tidings, Tome of Fyendal, Sonic Boom

Though Kano often gets overshadowed by Iyslander in the Wizard category, he continues to be one of the most fun heroes to build for Blitz– the smaller health pools allow Kano to get away with pushing his effect hard before opponents can reach their win condition.

Kano, Waning Moon, Aether Quickening, Swell Tidings, Tome of Fyendal, and Sonic Boom from Flesh and Blood

What makes Kano so interesting to play is the complete lack of attack actions in his deck–Damiano De Prosperis won a tourney with a Kano deckcomposed almost entirely of Wizard actions, dealing arcane damage instantly by pitching cards for his hero effect.

4Dash - Aggro

Key Cards:Hanabi Blaster, Pulsewave Harpoon, T-Bone, Zero to Sixty, Spark of Genius

Dash is a key example of a hero that benefits from deck stacking, asking for a deck filled with Mechanologist cards and the boost keyword to ensure long Combat Chains; every card you attack with becomes another decision your opponent must make, either forcing a block or establishing heavy momentum.

Powerful Dickson’s deck shows off the overwhelming power of Dash fairly well, as the Hanabi Blaster’s steady damage output mixed with boost makes for a deadly concoction that ruthlessly harasses opponents. Dash boost decks are strong enough to OTK depending on the circumstances, making them some of the best in the game.

Dorinthea, Dawnblade, Ironsong Determination, Ironsong Response, Stroke of Foresight, and Hit and Run from Flesh and Blood

3Dorinthea - Aggro

Key Cards:Dawnblade, Ironsong Determination, Ironsong Response, Stroke of Foresight, Hit and Run

Dorinthea’s game plan is one of the simplest in Flesh and Blood, which makes building a deck around her rather uncomplicated. Her signature weapon, Dawnblade, grows more powerful when scoring two attacks in a turn, encouraging decks that enable it to gather strength even more quickly.

Chane, Revel in Runeblood, Ghostly Visit, Bounding Demigon, Carrion Husk, and Howl From Beyond from Flesh and Blood

Quang Dong’s first-place Dorinthea deckis filled with cards specifically designed around increasing single-turn weapon attack damage, clearly focused on supplying Dorinthea with early-game support until her Dawnblade is unstoppable. The reprise keyword makes a few appearances as well, punishing opponents with additional damage for being too defensive.

2Chane - Control

Key Cards:Revel in Runeblood, Ghostly Visit, Bounding Demigon, Carrion Husk, Howl From Beyond

Though an older Chane has left Classic Constructed by attaining Living Legend status, young Chane is still quite the catch in Blitz. The beauty of a Chane deck is in its synergy with his effect: many cards exist to be played from the banished zone, which makes Soul Shackles less of a burden and more of a cycling tool.

Ira, Crimson Haze, Harmonized Kodachi, Salt the Wound, Razor Reflex, Flying Kick, and Snatch from Flesh and Blood

Most cards that can be played from the banished zone incur a blood debt, butdecks like Daniel Dreisziger’sinclude a few healing cards to offset any misplays. With the right pace, you can roll a ton of cards onto the combat chain with barely any repercussions to be seen.

1Ira, Crimson Haze - Aggro

Key Cards:Harmonized Kodachi, Salt the Wound, Razor Reflex, Flying Kick, Snatch

Much to the jealousy of Ninja players in Classic Constructed, Ira, Crimson Haze’s simple damage effect makes her one of the best Ninja heroes on the roster.Though Katsu does get some value as a combo genius, it’s arguable that Ira offers more value since you’re supposed to stack your deck with combo cards regardless.

Vinicius de Souza’s Ira deck won a tournamentby leaning even further into damage buffs and then launching multipart attacks to capitalize. Since Katsu’s combo effect is off the table when playing Ira, this deck brings back at least a part of that utility by including a draw card in Snatch.
