Locked away in a tower with a kingdom that fell asleep with her, Sleeping Beauty had no hope of ever waking up until a certain Prince decides to navigate through each peril and eventually find her, only to fall in love.
From accidentally pricking her finger on a spindle and falling into a deep slumber to a true love’s kiss finally awakening her from it, Princess Aurora goes through a lot to finally get what she truly wanted.
7Tangled
A modern twist on a classic tale, Tangled is a movie that centers around the overprotective nature of parents, and how one malevolent adoptive mother manipulated Rapunzel for years in order to get what she wanted.

Separated from her family and left without any friends except a chameleon, Rapunzel had no hope of escaping her tower until Flynn Rider came along. The movie features some very colorful characters and decent comedy sequences that keep things fresh.
6Brave
Loss can change anyone, even if you’re a proud and capable king. That’s what ultimately leads to Merida living a cushioned life with barely any freedom to explore her own kingdom, and getting forced to marry someone from the tribes in her country to carry on an ancient tradition.
It’s a story that revolves around her growth and ability to choose her own lifestyle and how her actions changed the way her family thinks. Letting go of pride and mending a broken relationship takes real courage and defines bravery.
5Moana
An island princess with a calling for exploring the sea and uncovering its secrets breaks an ancient taboo, and winds up going on an adventure with a Demigod who created everything she knows. Moana’s story has its own unique twists and turns, yet it still fits in with the rest of Disney’s lineup of animated classics.
By the end of the story, you’ll notice just how strong and capable Moana truly is, and how her adventure is a lesson to not let the status quo define you or what you’re able to do.
4The Little Mermaid
With a fascination for the world above her own, Ariel always knew there was more to life than what she had at her disposal under the sea. That’s what ultimately leads her to make a deal with Ursula and, despite her father’s warnings, she winds up going to the surface anyway. Now with new legs but no void, a kind prince rescues her from a deserted beach to show her what life is like on the surface and helps her regain what she lost. Listening to your elders is important, but you need to have your own adventures to learn from the world around you regardless.

Although Tiana wasn’t a princess to begin with, and just an average New Orleans girl struggling to make a name for herself, her encounter with Prince Naveen changed everything. In a struggle to help him save his title and regain his humanity, Tiana risks it all and eventually wins him over.
