These days, a lot of people consider board games and card games to be in the same category. Many are played on a board of their own. Such is the case with Triple Triad from theFinal Fantasyseries. It is played on a three-by-three grid, where you place your chosen cards.

In a basic game of Triple Triad,you have five cardsand flip a coin to see who goes first. To win, you have to have a majority of the spaces under your control. If you place down a card next an opponent’s, the number on the touching sides will be compared to see which is higher. That determines who controls those spaces and ultimately determines the victor.
6Tablut
Tablut is a board game found inMount & Blade 2: Bannerlord. It is perhaps the fastest way to earn money in the game if you know how to play. The game does a decent job of explaining, but it is up to you to hone your skills in a game of attackers versus defenders. Black pieces are the attackers and white pieces are the defenders.
The attackers have larger numbers, but the defenders do not have to capture anything to win. The objective is for the attackers to take the king or the defenders to move the king to the edge of the board. Surrounding an opposing piece, or pawn, from every side is how to capture one. That will then clear the board for the attackers to take more pieces or for the king to escape.

you may play Machine Strike inHorizon Forbidden West. The series is set in an apocalyptic future where mechanized beasts roam the land. Clearly chess has evolved since modern times in the Horizon universe, as this game is based on the classic.
You and your opponent havea set of pieces represented by the various machineshumanity is so fearful of. The pieces have points assigned to them that the other team earns when that machine is defeated. The machines also have stats that determine how they can act on the board, such as attack, armor, and movement. Take seven points before the other player to secure the victory.
4Orlog
Orlog is a popular game played by the Norse and Anglo-Saxons ofAssassin’s Creed Valhalla. The board game centers around dice usage. Each player has a set health, represented by 15 stones at the start. The goal is to take out your opponent’s health with a bit of luck from the dice roll.

There are multiple rounds in a game, with each round having three phases. They are Roll, God Favor, and Resolution. The first phase has you roll your dice. Phase two allows you tochoose a blessing to castfrom a mythological Norse figure. During Resolution, the dice faces and any blessings are calculated to decide what health should be taken. Repeat that until a player’s health is fully diminished.

Gwent has its own full game now, but originally, you had to play it withinThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The fast-paced card game resembles a clash of armies on a battlefield where you lead your cards as your forces. There multiple factions, each with different abilities to help you succeed.
The game starts with a coin flip to decide who goes first and theneach player draws ten cards. If you want, you can discard two and draw two more in hopes of bettering your hand. Place Unit cards in the combat row and hope your cards' Strength points are higher than your opponents. You’ll need to win two-out-of-three rounds to win the entire game.

TheMariouniverse is vast. There’s the fighting division ofSuper Smash Bros, the racing offshoot ofMario Kart, and the board game variant of theMario Partyseries. Most Mario Party entries have some explorative features and minigames to play, but the meat of it comes from the main Party Mode.
There are multiple boards within each Mario Party title that has different spots to land on, different hazards, and different ways to ruin friendships. The goal is collect as many stars as possible so you get placed in first on the endgame podium. This can be done by achieving randomly assigned objectives, finding them on the board, or stealing them from another player.
