Atomfall is a mix of an FPS and a survival game set in 1960s England. However, it isn’t an ordinary version of England. This game takes place in an alternate history where a nuclear disaster turned the area into a radioactive quarantine zone.
This is where survival comes in, as the place isn’t exactly filled with resources. You have to scavenge for supplies and craft weapons. When combat starts, however, it starts to feel more like an FPS, and a satisfying one at that. The beautiful world and interesting exploration are other good aspects of the game.
Borderlands 3

Borderlands 3 is a looter-shooter in the vein of its predecessors, where players aim to incrementally upgrade their arsenal through completing missions, defeating enemies, and upgrading skills. Set on the planet of Pandora, your aim as a Vault Hunter is to take down the Calypso siblings and save Pandora.
Whether playing alone or with friends, the Borderlands games have often been a joy to behold. This continues with Borderlands 3, where you play as a group of Vault Hunters taking on a pair of dangerous twins.
Each of the playable characters is their own class and provides different abilities. So, your overall experience is slightly different depending on who you’re controlling. However, the core gunplay is smooth and a lot of fun, no matter who is holding the weapon.
The first thing you should admire about Mullet Madjack is its title. Any name that includes the word “mullet” deserves praise. The game itself is excellent, too. It’s an incredibly fast-paced shooter with a cool, cyberpunk art style. The goal of the game is to make it to the top floor by getting past all the enemies in your way.
What makes things a bit thicker is that you only have ten seconds to complete each floor. However, you’re able to add to the time by killing people and drinking sodas. So, you’re forced to play at high speed. The shooting and movement feel very smooth, which is vital in a fast-paced game.
Perfect Dark is one of the most influential shooters ever. It wowed players when it was originally released in 2000. Nowadays, you can play it on Game Pass, and it still holds up fairly well.
Naturally, the visuals aren’t amazing. Yet, the gunplay still feels fantastic, and the sound design remains impressive. Plus, there is something satisfying about the simplicity of these old shooters. Yes, there is a narrative to follow, but you don’t have to deal with complex mechanics or anything like that. You just need to shoot the enemies that get in your way.
Far Cry New Dawn is a spin-off of the Far Cry series, but it shares similarities with the main titles. This is because it’s a first-person, open-world shooter.
It’s set many years after one of Far Cry 5’s endings. The world is attempting to recover from a nuclear blast, and you must help build up the community. Despite being a post-apocalyptic world, it’s very bright and colorful, making exploring more enjoyable. Speaking of enjoyable, the gunplay and general gameplay are very enjoyable, which is expected of the series.
Quake was originally released in 1996, but in recent years, it has arrived on the latest consoles. It isn’t a remake or a remaster—it’s pretty much the same classic title.
This means that newbies may have a hard time getting to grips with some of the older mechanics. Yet, there is a reason why this game was considered a classic in the first place. The gunplay has always been very smooth, and it still feels like a blast to play.
Hunt: Showdown is a multiplayer FPS that puts you in the shoes of a bounty hunter. In every mission, your goal is to find and eliminate your bounty, which is typically a dangerous foe.
They aren’t the only danger, though. There are also other bounty hunters out there. So, you have to compete against other players to get the bounty first. This results in a unique multiplayer experience. It’s also fun due to the enjoyable gunplay and the number of satisfying-to-use weapons in the game.
Not only is Stalker 2 an FPS, it’s an open-world FPS. That open world is the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone, which in this game is filled with mutated creatures, plenty of radiation, and some unsavory individuals.
Your character visits there at the start of the game to learn about the crystal in his possession. Things quickly go south, and you must spend an extended time in the Exclusion Zone. To survive, you need to defend yourself using an array of weapons that feel and sound great. Also, you need to keep yourself well-fed.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6

When it comes to the campaign, Black Ops 6 is a very untraditional Call of Duty game. In most entries in the series, almost all of the missions are filled with plenty of gunfire and explosions as you run around, killing every enemy in sight.
There are also a few missions like this in Black Ops 6. However, along with them are various other types of missions, including elements from the stealth and horror genres. It makes for a very varied and interesting campaign. The game also features the classic multiplayer and zombie modes, which aren’t quite as untraditional as the campaign, but they’re still very entertaining.
Hell Let Loose
Hell Let Loose drops you in the midst of World War 2 to take part in epic 50 vs 50 battles. A tactical first-person shooter, it will take you to various theaters of war all across Europe.
Hell Let Loose is a multiplayer tactical first-person shooter set in World War 2. From that premise alone, you may not think this is much of an original game since there are many WW2 shooters. However, Hell Let Loose is able to stand out among the crowd, particularly because of how much emphasis it puts on communication.
Leaders are expected to talk with their troops and keep everyone on the same page. After all, this is a game where teams with everyone on the same page generally succeed against some good individual players. This is partially due to the fact that there are 50 people on each team. Plus, you die quickly and move fairly slowly in this game, so it’s hard for one player to take out several in quick succession.
