Warframe’sarsenal of weapons is nothing short of massive. From assault rifles to bows that fire cluster bombs, there is no shortage of good weapons to choose from. One such good weapon is the Fulmin, a lightning rifle that can morph into a shotgun with its alt-fire mode. If you want a gun that’s deadly and equally versatile, the Fulmin won’t let you down.

Warframe Wisp Alt Helmet

Wisp’s signature weapon packs a serious punch by default, but you can turn this weapon into an endgame monster with the right build. This guide will showcase how you can get your hands on the Fulmin, explain how its firing modes work, and cover two fantastic builds to maximize the potential of this weapon.

How To Obtain Every Fulmin Variant

The Fulmin’s crafting blueprint can be purchased from the in-game Market for 25,000 Credits. While you can technically make the weapon at any time, you’ll need Hexenon to do so, an uncommon resource that drops from the Jupiter tileset. Argon Crystals may be obtained from the Void tileset.

As with most Prime gear, the Fulmin Prime drops from certain Void Relics. You can obtain Relics by completing Star Chart missions, redeeming Relic Packs from vendors, or by trading with other players. The Fulmin Prime requires a main blueprint, barrel, receiver, and stock to craft.

The Fulmin is a shotgun and assault rifle hybrid, switching modes on the fly with the alt-fire input. Both fire modes release electric rounds that deal mostly Electricity damage to targets, featuring above-average critical stats and a decent status chance in the shotgun form.Unlike most weapons, the Fulmin uses a rechargeable battery for its magazine, giving it infinite ammo. Not firing this weapon for a couple of seconds will cause the magazine to regenerate ammunition at a rapid rate, affected by your reload speed stat.

The shotgun form behaves similarly to the Arca Plasmor, releasing an energy wave that travels a short distance before disappearing. This wave counts as a single projectile, so this fire mode isn’t as great at inflicting status ailments asother noteworthy primary weapons. Fortunately, the large size of this projectile makes it incredibly easy to hit multiple targets in cramped environments, notably hallways. Each shot from this form consumes ten ammo from the battery. Targets hit by this projectile also suffer from a guaranteed Impact proc, making this gun a perfect candidate for Internal Bleeding.

The automatic form is effectively an assault rifle that fires electric rounds, featuring a much faster fire rate and a slightly higher critical multiplier than the shotgun form. These electric rounds are hitscan, making this perfect for mid-range combat. Each shot consumes one ammo from the battery.

The Fulmin Prime features the same behavior as the standard Fulmin. Both the shotgun and automatic forms behave the same on this model, albeit with much higher base stats. Compared to the standard variant, the Fulmin Prime buffs the base damage and status chance of the shotgun form, the critical chance of the automatic form, and the magazine and reload stats of both forms. While those buffs might seem conservative, the Fulmin was already a viable option for Steel Path. The Fulmin Prime is a small upgrade, but the magazine and reload speed buffs make this version much more comfortable to use.

Fulmin Builds

We’ll be showcasing two Fulmin builds you’re able to use, both of which work great on the default and Prime variants. One build uses one Forma, tuned for newer players, while the other build is an endgame variant tuned for Steel Path difficulty.

Fulmin Riven Mods

Riven modsare not necessary for the Fulmin to perform well. If you’re fortunate enough to obtain one, keep any rolls with critical chance, critical damage, punch through, or elemental damage.

Starter Build (1 Forma)

This starter build is tailored toward newer players that have just acquired the Fulmin and need a good weapon for Sorties, Arbitrations, and early Steel Path. You’ll only needan Orokin Catalyst and one Formato recreate this build yourself, so it’s fairly cheap.

We start by usingSerration (R7)to scale the weapon’s base damage.Split Chamberis then used to scale our multishot, effectively doubling our damage when it activates. For more raw damage, we go with elemental mods—Rime Rounds and Malignant Forcein this case—to gain some much-needed elemental damage modifiers. This combination makes Viraland Electricity. Viral is amazing against all factions while Electricity helps with destroying Corpus shields.

With our remaining few points, we opt to scale this weapon’s great critical stats to make each shot pack a serious punch.Critical Delayis the strongest critical chance mod available, giving our shotgun mode a whopping 90% critical chance. Paired withViral Sense, these critical hits deal 4.8x more damage, decimating anything you’re aiming at. Since we land so many critical hits,Hunter Munitionsis a major damage boost. The forced Slash procs on critical hits will help this gun deal with armored targets in level 100+ content.

If you don’t mind adjusting other parts of your loadout,we highly recommend using Zephyr or Rhino with this gunto drastically buff its damage potential. Zephyr’s Tornados have excellent synergy with this gun’s shotgun mode, while Rhino’s Roar buff makes the Fulmin hit like a truck.

Endgame Build (7 Forma)

This build focuses on making the Fulmin’s shotgun mode deal as much damage as possible. We aggressively scale the weapon’s base damage, multishot, and elemental damage to dish out some massive hits and Slash procs. Creating this build does requireseven Forma (less if using the Primed version)alongside Primary Exilus and Arcane Adapters.

We start by scaling the weapon’s base damage.Primary Mercilessgives us a massive 360% base damage modifier if we kill enough targets. We further boost this effect withGalvanized Savvy, granting more base damage by defeating targets debuffed by status effects. Since the shotgun mode always staggers targets and is fairly likely to proc Electricity and Viral, you’ll typically receive a 240% damage from this mod. The massive multishot bonus fromGalvanized Chamberhelps this weapon chew through unarmored targets with little issue.

Viral is still the way to go for an endgame setup, but we’ll be usingPrimed Cryo RoundswithMalignant Forcethis time. The Primed Cryo Rounds mod provides a massive 165% Cold damage bonus to our weapon compared to the 60% we were getting from Rime Rounds in the previous configuration.Critical Delay and Vital Senseare used once again to scale the weapon’s critical stats, ensuring nearly every shot critically hits with a 4.8x damage multiplier.

Since we have ample mod space left, we can replace Hunter Munitions withInternal Bleeding. This mod has a base 35% chance of inflicting a Slash proc on targets affected by Impact stagger, a debuff we inflict with every shotgun blast. Since the weapon fires just under 2.5 rounds per second, we meet the requirements to double Internal Bleeding’s proc chance (70%), making this mod better than Hunter Munitions for the Fulmin. We pair this with aPrimed Banemod to add another multiplicative scalar to our damage. In other words, your shotgun blasts and Slash procs are going to shred Steel Path targets. Throw on your favorite Exilus mod to finish the build, and enjoy destroying Steel Path enemies with a devastating shotgun that has infinite ammo.
