Four-color commanders inMagic: The Gatheringare a rare thing, though they give some of the most versatility for deck building. With access to four of the five colors of Magic, you’ll be able to craft powerful decks showcasing some of the most powerful cards Magic has to offer.

The combination of white, blue, green, and black gives you access to all the best ramp, exile effects, hard removal for just about every card type, and card draw in the game. Many of the best four-color commanders are partners, but a certain Phyrexian Angel dominates the color combination with powerful effects.

5Kydele, Chosen Of Kruphix // Tymna The Weaver

The partner combinationof Kydele, Chosen of Kruphix and Tymna the Weaver brings a focus on drawing cards to accelerate you ahead of your opponents with tons of cards. Kydele is a green and blue commander that can tap to add one colorless mana for each card you’ve drawn this turn. Meanwhile, Tymna is a white and black creature that allows you to pay life and draw cards equal to the number of players you’ve dealt combat damage to at the start of your postcombat main phase.

If you’ve damaged all three of your opponents, you can pay three life and draw three cards, and then you can add four mana to your mana pool to help cast those spells with both of your commanders out in play.

There are a few ways to go about building these two partner commanders, with a powerful approach being a more Stax style deck with cards like Grand Abolisher and Myrel, Shield of Argive to protect your turns while drawing tons of cards from your opponent’s actions, like Archivist of Oghma or Esper Sentinel.

4Ishai, Ojutai Dragonspeaker // Reyhan, Last Of The Abzan

Two powerful commanders that care about +1/+1 counters, the duo of Ishai, Ojutai Dragonspeaker and Reyhan, Last of the Abzan bring some synergies to your Commander deck. Ishai will give your opponents some pause when they cast spells, since they gain a +1/+1 counter every time an opponent casts any spell.

Reyhan on the other hand, redistributes +1/+1 counters from your creatures when they die. These two commanders work together to pump out as many value creatures as possible and then load them up with counters.

With all these counters going around, you’ll want to load your deck up with cards like Hardened Scales and Winding Constrictor to double on the counters you put on your creatures. Once you have a sufficient army, you can throw your creatures directly at your opponents by making them unblockable with Champion of Lambholt and Herald of Secret Streams.

3Atraxa, Grand Unifier

The latest iteration of the Phyrexian Angel, Atraxa, Grand Unifier brings the glory of New Phyrexia to Magic. Clocking in at seven mana, this Atraxa might feel like a huge mana commitment but in reality, it is a reliable commander that can completely refill your hand when it resolves.

When Atraxa, Grand Unifer enters the battlefield, you get to look at the top ten cards of your library, grabbing a card of each card type and adding it to your hand. There have been nine card types in Magic since the introduction of battles, giving you the potential to draw up to nine cards when Atraxa comes into play.

If your opponents don’t have an immediate answer for Atraxa, you can start attacking with her, a 7/7 creature loaded up with flying, vigilance, deathtouch, and lifelink. Even if Atraxa puts a target on your back given her high power, you’ll have an nigh unstoppable force on the board and power in your hand.

2Atraxa, Praetors' Voice

The original Atraxa sneaks out for being just a little more powerful than her modern counterpart, Atraxa, Praetor’s Voice, whichfinds herself at the helm of poison decksor planeswalker superfriends lists. This Atraxa, much like its larger counterpart, comes loaded with the ability package of flying, vigilance, deathtouch, and lifelink.

The key to this Atraxa’s power is her ability to proliferate at the end of your turn. You get to choose any number of targets that have counters on them, and then add an extra of each. For planeswalkers, you get to tick up each loyalty counter on them, accelerating them to their ultimate abilities much quicker than usual.

In a poison-styled deck, all you really have to do is get at least one poison counter on an opponent and sit back and watch as their counters slowly tick up at the end of your turn. With a few other proliferation effects, you’ll be able to quickly take down any opponent in just a few turns.

1Thrasios, Triton Hero // Tymna The Weaver

When it comes to thesheer amount of power that these two commandersbring to the table, there are few that can match Thrasios, Triton Hero and Tymna the Weaver. Typically seen as more of a cEDH commander pairing, these two cards provide some of the most value and card advantage among all commanders that have access to white, blue, black, and green mana.

Many Thrasios and Tymna decks revolve around getting some sort of infinite mana combo and then drawing your entire deck off the back of Thrasios’ ability. With Thrasios in play, you can pay four mana to scry one and then reveal the top card of your library. If that card is a land, it goes into play. If it’s anything else, you draw it.

Since you’re in all colors except for red, you have access to all the best tutors and best ways to generate infinite mana. If you decide to take your deck in this direction, make sure you clear it with your friends or other players since a well-build deck can easily overtake most casual decks if your opponents are unprepared.
