Ramza has the easy potential to be your best unit throughout the entire campaign inFinal Fantasy Tactics. His unique job, the Squire, only becomes incredibly broken towards the end of the game, so you’ll want to use him in other jobs until then.

With so many to choose from, some of which are physical-dealing or magic-dealing jobs, Ramza will excel in any role you put him in. He is the only unit in the game that can have more than 95 Faith without leaving the party, meaning Ramza can be the strongest magic damage-dealing unit in your army.

7Geomancer

The Geomancer is lowkey one of the most useful and fun jobs in all of Final Fantasy Tactics. They learn magical spells based on the type of earth the tile you are currently standing on is made of. Better yet, Geomancers get a reaction ability that lets them counter any attack with a Geomancer spell. All Geomancer spells can be cast immediately and most have an area of effect.

What’s more, they don’t require any charging, they cost no MP, and they have a 100 percent hit rate no matter what. Geomancers don’t require high Faith to enhance damage either, it is based solely on your magic attack stat. Pair this job with something like Orator, whose Speacraft skills benefit from having a high Magic Attack, and you can persuade enemy units to join you much more easily. Monk’s Chakra abilities are also extremely useful for this job, giving HP and MP Regen, and a revive ability.

6Thief

The Thief job in Final Fantasy Tactics is incredibly useful for any unit to spend some time in. If you give it to Ramza, he will have a much higher chance to steal enemy equipment thanks to being able to boost his Speed with Tailwind if you give him Mettle as his second job command.

The chance to steal something is based on your Speed stat and the innate number assigned to Steal Weapon, Steal Helm, and so on. Since Tailwind boosts speed for the fight and you may cast it for free as many times as you like, you can not only increase your chances to steal but also give Ramza more turns to attempt stealing.

5Dragoon

Ramza as a Dragoon is a master of offence and defence. TheDragoon’s abilitieslet them deal significant damage with Jump and they can use powerful spears to strike at an extended range. Able to equip strong armour, shields, and some of the best helmets in the game, Dragoons can be borderline unkillable especially if you pair their second job command with the Chemist’s Item.

Not only does this mean Dragoons can strike out alone to take down powerful foes, but they can also keep themselves alive by using healing items and revive downed allies with a Pheonix Down. All in all, Ramza will be extremely hard to kill with this much survivability.

4Black Mage

Black Mage Ramza is one route to take if you want Ramza to be a force of untold magical destruction. If you go down this route, we highly recommend pairing this job with Arithmetician or Summoner. Summoners can one-shot bosses with their late-game spells and being in the Black Mage job enhances their power thanks to the better stats they get over the Summoner.

When combining theBlack Magewith the meme-worthy and incredibly broken Arithmetician job, you’ve basically broken the game wide open and will have very few troubles for any fights. While the Arithmetician job requires you to do actual maths, the abilities and damage potential of this class lend themselves extremely well to a Black Mage, letting you use your spells with a map-wide range.

3Ninja

Ninja has some of the best Speed growths and stats in the game, which means you will almost always get to act first in most battles. Ramza as a Ninja can take advantage of his own innatehigh Bravery stat, which will increase the amount of damage he can do.

For a lot of you, Ramza will sit in the Ninja job as soon as he gets it until there’s another viable option, which usually ends up being his Uber Squire in Chapter Four. The best trick to increase the Ninja’s damage is to forgo using ninja blades and give Ramza the Monk’s Brawler ability to attack twice with fists and punch literal holes in your enemies' armour. As ever, using Mettle as a secondary command is always a good idea in this class, but feel free to take Chakra for more utility.

2Dark Knight

Naturally, the Dark Knight job in Final Fantasy Tactics is worth the grind in every single way. Ignoring the ridiculous unlock criteria for this job, giving Ramza the Dark Knight job will give him access to powerful sword-based attacks similar toGaffgarion and Agrias.

Having the range and ability to steal HP from enemies and blast several foes with one attack using abilities similar to Agrias' Holy Knight sword arts elevates Ramza considerably. Using Ramza’s Chapter Four Mettle abilities alongside this unique and extremely hard-to-unlock job makes Ramza even more devastatingly powerful in the late game, to the point where you will walk over every challenge.

1Squire

There’s a reason Ramza’s unique Squire job has the nickname Uber Squire, and as of Chapter Four in Final Fantasy Tactics, it is without equal, the best job to haveRamzain. Your second job command can be whatever you prefer, some special shout-outs would be Samurai’s Iaido or the Dark Knight’s Darkness skills.

Ramza’s Mettle abilities are beyond broken when you get to Chapter Four, so this job command is a must if you have him in another job. While this is true for every job in the game, pairing the Samurai’s Shirahadori ability with any physical job Ramza is in will make it so he effectively can’t be hit by physical attacks.
